Prospect's varsity football team. recovered from a poor season last year to post a 7-l record and become conference co- champions. Coach Don Williams, assisted by Mr. George Gattas, Mr. John McDougal, and Mr. Don Barrett, led the team to win this coveted position. Highlights of the season were the convincing defeats of Wheeling and Forest View and the spec- tacular i6-l2 victory over Maine West. The Knights' only loss was to Glenbrook South, the team that shared first place with Prospect. Coach Williams felt that the Prospect success was primarily a team effort, all members of the all-senior team contributing to the squacl's success. Leading rushers were Rick Lytle and Captain Wayne Kulinski. Top linemen, Mark Pas- diora, Earle Smith, Greg Kowal, Jim LaRocco, and George Free- land battled for the touchdowns backed by Steve Johnson, Bill Phillips, Steve Hestilow, and Jim Zuckermandel. 5 1 A Falcon brought clown to earth. PERFECT CONFERENCE RECORD .agp Prospect's iunior varsity football team won the conference championship this year, recording a Third successful season. These champion Knights, coached by Mr. Aldrich and Mr. Ar- seneau, completed their conference competition with a record of 6-O. A single loss to Elgin Larkin in non-conference activity and a tie game with Deerfield were recorded as the only marks on the perfect record of wins. The J.V. squad was handicapped by several iniuries during the season and by the loss of per- sonnel to Wheeling, but despite this, the boys were determined to win the honors. One of the highlights of the season was the 34-6 triumph over Maine West, a spectacular and im- portant victory for our team, Both coaches agreed that the team had mastered the skills of football, had exhibited the necessary fighting spirit, and showed promising indications of future success.
