HARRIERS SET One of the familiar sights that accompany the tall season at Prospect is the view ot tired boys in sweat suits pufiing around the school grounds. These are the members of the cross coun- try squad, and they are among the hardest-working athletes at Prospect. A typical cross country practice would have the boys running at least five miles. This grueling exercise pre- pared them for maximum effort in meets. The team finished with an overall record of 7-5. ln conference competition Pros- pect had a 5-2 record with third place in the conference. Pacing the team were seniors Gus Filantres, Ed and George Schneider, all-conference Gary York, and iunior Jack Pollard. The team's enthusiastic coach was Mr. Calisch. Long strides and a lot of training brought Prospect's runners to the lead. VARSlTY CROSS COUNTRY. FRONT ROW: Steve Benoche, Scott Hein, Gust Filantres.
