CREATIVE WRITING CLUB. FRONT ROW: Mrs. Flynn, Char- lene Bohl, Connie Peterson, Jan Peet. ROW TWO: Sandy Dabo- vich, Carol Hardin, Adrienne Kulieke, Sue Knechtel. INTERPRETING IDEAS This past year, the Creative Writing Club initiated several new trends. First, club members were no longer responsible for publication of Prospect's literary supplement, The Round Table. Instead, meetings were planned and organized to in- troduce various writing techniques and to discuss individual problems in creative writing. Students were also encouraged to offer opinions and to accept criticism of literary ac- complishments. Mrs. Flynn and Mrs. Wasam guided discussions and suggested improvements in writing styles. The philosophies of Plato and Aristotle and metaphysics were among the discussion topics of the Philosophy Club. Under the direction of Mr. Gabinski, Mr. Davis, and Mr. Fyfe, the club read plilosophical books and discussed the suggested theories. Club members were encouraged to express personal interpre- tations of the reading materials and to search for critiques by other writers. Discussions uncovered the basic ideals and logic of each philosopher and the application of the philosophy to everyday lite. PHILOSOPHY CLUB. Lynn Martin, Jim Smith, Rick Calwell, Rick Daniels, Steve Wagner, Mr. Gabinski, Mr. Hansen, Jim Brasic. 'df

GAMESMANSHIP PRACTICED Sponsored by Mr. Grants, the Chess Club members met to learn to play the game of skill and wits. President Blake Baker, Vice-president Paul Thompson, Secretary-treasurer Bill Schiesser, and the fifteen club members participated in elimi- nation tournaments. Prospect masters also played winners from other schools in the district. The club increased individual knowledge of the game and promoted chess as a worth-while hobby. By the end of the year, the Chess Club members were experienced masters of the game of kings. BRIDGE CLUB. FRONT ROW: Bar- bara Bathgate, George Mast, Nancy Brome. ROW TWO: Cynthia Almy, Mr. Gelhaar, Judy Wolthausen, Hugh Wesler, Sue Merritt, Jim' Cramer, Janet Evans. The Bridge Club had several obiectives. Bidding, playing the hand correctly, and counting points were emphasized for be- ginners. Another obiective was to teach the more advanced players some tricks of the trade. Players appreciated the value of concentration in bridge and recognized the increasing popularity of the game in social life. With the advice of Mr. Gelhaar and the intelligence of several advanced players, the twenty members practiced the tricks and techniques neces- sary to play a good game of bridge. .K gi, ii.
