For a long time it looked as if the snow would never leave Prospect, but when it did, one of the first signs of spring was the appearance of the varsity baseball squad. Under the direction of Coach Aldrich, the Knights set out to accomplish their goals for the i965 season. These goals, aside from play- ing a game in good weather, were to win the conference championship title and to be successful in the state tournament playoffs. While the snow was still on the ground, the boys worked indoors on conditioning and fundamental skills. Led by veteran stars Greg Kowal and Rick Lytle, the team then moved outdoors to perfect the skills of batting, running, slid- ing, pitching, and fielding, necessary for success as a team. Many juniors on the squad will return next year for what should be another time season.

KNIGHTS OF THE DIAMOND Pitchers-perfect the strike out ball. After March l5, the familiar cries of safe at first and home- run could be heard in the fieldhouse and later on the base- ball diamonds. Freshmen and sophomores, coached by Mr. Chapman and Mr. Gaines, practiced nearly a month before their first game in April. They worked to learn and improve the skills of pitching, catching, batting, and fielding in order to better last year's ine playing record. Early weeks of practice were rewarded with a polished skill exhibited throughout the conference season. The frosh-soph players proved themselves worthy of being called Knights by keeping on the ball from the first game to the last. Bill Phillips attempts to lay in a bunt l FROSH-SOPH BASEBALL.
