To fhe beaufy and gayefy of fhe Chrisfmas season, Dolores Makemnos added her sparkling perform- ances in fwo of fhe finesf plays fhaf our school has ever had. N. Assembly, fhe impassioned orafors who campaigned for fheir candidafes af fhe Roosevelf-Dewey debafe. In fourfh ferm, our war work reached ifs climax wifh fhe purchase of four ieeps and fhree field ambulances fhrough fhe sale of war bonds. We celebrafed wifh a jeep parfy. Af lasf we were seniors wifh a bursfing memory book of four years' good fimes. Yes, fhere was Velia Coscarelli's mafhemafical genius, and Alice Yerchin's anfics in bio. We gasp as we fhink of fhe sfupendous campaign of our G. O. Presidenf, Margaref Turner, and fhe efernal haphazardness of fhe Publicafions Office. Mrs. Buckley's efernal pafience and calm will be a course of never- ending wonder always. There are all fhe prefecfs and subiecf feachers who have done so much for us. There's nof one of us who doesn'f find as she looks back, fhaf Miss Ficks was always fhere wifh her undersfanding ancl loving guidance, and wifh fhaf exfra liffle liff fhaf did so much fo make Prospecf Heighfs whaf if has become fo us. We'll fake wifh us all fhese experiences and recollecfions fhaf made high school such an advenfure. As we leave, we'll wave fo fhose whom we leave wifhin ifs walls, and say, So long, Cifizens of Prospecf Heighfs, you lucky people. W

GLASS HISTURY In I943 when we enfered fhis school, everyone was singing a song, Oh, whaf a beaufiful morning, Oh, whaf a beaufiful day. If was a gay, opfimisfic song, and if became our special fune when we enfered Maxwell Annex. We were a bif frighfened, fo be sure. The live fhings in fhe science room scared us: fhe sighf of hundreds of faces made us slighfly dizzy. If fook four years of high school 'ro fransform us from five hundred liffle chicks scrafching for knowledge info a class of wise old seniors. Four years? If couldn'f have been so long ago, fhaf day we firsf learned fhe words of All hail fo Girls Commercial. We feel sorry for fhe new freshmen of Prospecf Heighfs who will never know fhe adven- fures of Maxwell Annex, fhaf building fhaf housed fhe coziesf lunchroom and fhe dampesf bridge. If was here 'Ifhaf Carmela Pafundi won fhe Traver Award and became Class Presidenf. H' was The scene of our Gay Ninefies Review, planned by Mrs. Woodlefon. Miss Wifherbee encouraged us, noi' only in lessons, buf of fun and nonsense in which our class always shone. One Sepfember day we enfered fhe main building which seemed more maiesfic fo us fhan any royal palace. We were geffing fo be much more poised, sufficienfly af ease fo eaf a hearfy lunch affer we had wafched fwo frogs being dissecfed. Regina Schwager enioyed fhe per- formance so much fhaf she immediafely ioined fhe Bio Squad. Doris Weinfraub began fo show fhe skill in commercial subiecfs fha? led her along fhe pafh fo Cardinal Business Manager in Senior Term. Lillian Gilash, Peggy Ryan, and Florence Zielinski began 'ro pifch a mean soffball game, and soon were fhe recognized sfars of Gym I. Violef Manos and Ann Kahn fhrew French phrases af each ofher fo fhe mysfificafion of commercial sfudenfs, who counfered by faking down fheir assignmenfs in sfen. The academics fried fo convince fheir commercial sisfers of +he advanfages of longhand, fhe abilify fo read back whaf fhey had wriffen. As fhe ferms glided by, each one was highlighfed by differenf evenfs, special fesfivifies, new excifemenf. Teachers and sfudenfs wenf ouf in greaf sfrengfh for fhe Nafional War Fund and planned a gianf carnival. Mr. Canale sold ielly apples, while his frusfy followers shined fwo shoes I4
