PROCTORIAN The Proctorian staff worked E pe- riod Tuesdays and Wednesdays 0n the 1984 Proctorian. Kim Bend- er. Editor. was aided by Kristi Ben- oit, Co-Editor, Mindy Sargent. Business Manager. and Nancy Smiel. Treasurer. The staff got out early and blitzed the area selling yearbook ads. Rutland and Proc- tor were very generous with ads and paironage. All members worked hard to make this one of the best yearbooks ever. STUDENT COUNCIL The 1984 Student Council worked very hard to better the School and make money to help the school. They put on a successful Goods and Service Auction raising over a thou- sand dollars. The members sponsored a very exciting Hal- loween Dance with a band. With advisor Mrs. Burke the council chose the Character Achievement Award recipients. Finally new and old members went on a traditional picnic. P6 On April 14, 12 members of the PHS Art ClubI accompanied by chaperons, Mr. and Mrs. Col- man. boarded British Airway's flight to Lon- don. anticipating an incredibly exciting week, They were not disappointed. This crew includ- ed juniors Dave Blew and Michele Rogers, in addition to seniors Ben Gilliam. Carol Gray, Kim Bender. Mike Jaquith. Kris Johnson. Kim Sanborn, Nancy Smiel. Darren Triller. Mike Taranovich. and Nicki Valente. Despite some problems with hotel accommo dations, everyone agreed that London was an extraordinary city with something to offer ev- eryone. Windsor Castle was a high point of the week for many. With the Queen visiting on the same day. it was indeed a treat to tour this majestic fortress. Some students entertained themselves by trying to make the solemn guards break their code of silence. Aside from all the touring, shopping, and ex- ploring, the Londoners discovered that a ma- jor part of their trip was the friendships they'd made. Whether these friendships were through contact with students from other schools or whether it was through the Kate night talks among the Proctor friends, those special moments of closeness will not be for- gotten. ....- -HIH, ART CLUB L. to R. The week began with the flight to Washing- ton. D.C. aboard People's Express. Upon reaching Washington. the students found a loaded schedule awaiting them. complete with what seemed like round-the-clock ler tures and discussions. Some of these lectures explained the processes of government. while others dealt with controversial subjects such as nuclear disarmament. LLS. involvement in Central America, the abortion issue, and the death penalty. To break up this week of con- centrated learning the Close-Up participants were given free time and were treated to the fantastic musical CATS 7? Held on May 5, and sponsored by the junior class, the prom was a great success. The gym was trans- formed into a festival of lavender and purple streamers. The center piece was a quaint bridge which contestants for queen and court crossed. The judges of this royal ceremony were the members of the band Ground Zero whose great music kept the dance floor crowded all evening. When the time to choose the Queen and her Court had come. the gym seemed to fill up with parents armed with flashbulbs all eagerly awaiting the decisions of the judges. These decisions for the court were as follows: Freshman Jenny Thomas with her escort Jason Chamberlain; sopho- more Kris Triller accompanied by Chris King; juniors Amy La- France. Debbie L'Herault. and Beth Warren with their respective dates, John Fiske. Rick Hill, and Joe Minard; and finally seniors Inf grid Grace escorted by Scott Fletcher. Judy Nelson accompa- nied by Rob Shackelford, and Barb Pentkewski with her escort Dean Mandigo. The lovely Queen of the ball was Lesley Clough with her escort Tim Blow. The Queen and her Court were very pleased with the results, but assuredly, a fine time was had by all. 00 - 12:00 PROCFOR HIGH SCHOOL 1984 JR.-SR.
