MAJORETTES 8: FLAG UNIT . The majorettes. coached by P Karen Blanchard. worked hard to raise money for new uniforms. There were 4 returning members and 4 new majoretlese The flag unit. coached by Lynn - Tucker. showed its ambition by putting together a great rouline and also earning money for new uniforms. BAND The music department kept the band and marching band very busy. The district music festival was hosted by Proctor High this year. Karen Patch was selected for the AIl-State stage band and Mary Freebom for the All-State orchestra. Kathi Clark went to the All-New England festivalt The band as well as the chorus was involved in the first P.H.S. Christmas Assemblyr which had a great turnout. The marching band was involved in 3 parades this year: the Loyalty Day parade, All-State parade, and Memorial Day parade in Proctor. R 1. S. Harmon. Ct Gray, It Cowans, K. Faulkner. Th Chamberland. 22 FRENCH CLUBS This: year there were 2 French Clubs. one consisting of all French 2 members and the other of the French 3 Class. The French 2 students sold candles to raise money to go out to dinner at the French restaurant in Granville, New York. The French 3 Class had a raffle. bottle drive, and did home-lawn work for people. They plan to use their money to help pay for their trip to Montreal. French 2 R 1, C. Gray. 1. Champine. S. T. Chamberland, L. Pilcher CLOSE-UP The '82 Close-Up program was directed by Lee Orvis and Peter Osterhondt. Eight students were fortunate to be selected to go to Washington to learn about the US. government. The students went through many meetings and inter- views before the selection was made. Participants were Rose Massey. Reeny Triller, Lisa Young. Andrea Kugler. Trish Mendenhall. Tracy Chamberland. Lynn Pilcher, and Mary Smiel. Raising money for the trip consisted of selling donuts and juice every morning in the cafeteria and candy and donuts after school. Students soon became accustomed to this new idea, and the Close-Up program was able to raise money to help pay for the expenses.
