Approximately 123 students. grades T e 12. filed into their new school in September of 1953. The year must have been an exciting one for sure. Everything they did was the first time it had been done in the new school. The year 1978- 1979 was just as exciting to PHS students though. September brought nearlyr 255 students to the doors ofthe 25'year-old building. Most of those students were just as proud of the building and excited about what it had in store for them as their parents had been in 1953 . . . Today e I979 . . .F'or inslance. Calhy and Nan 1220 were anticipating field hockey and baskelball seasons as their mother. Rose-Marie Champine. had the year she was senior co-capiain of the 1953 baskclball team. Greg. Pal, Marie. and Sue Curtis were her? as their falher. Adrian. was 25 years before with Greg anticipating graduation and Sue Wondering what the next six years would be like. Steve and Ken Burgess were here as their father Dt-an had been in 1953. Yes. 1978-79 was an exciting year. Please come along; let's see exactly who was hem and who made things happen. Junior High Engaging grins and mischievious eyes am the newr changing trademarks of seventh and eighth graders. Junior high sindenls sure have energy as you probably know ii you have one in your house. We're su re not too many things were different between the junior high in 1954 and 1979. In '54 there were 42 students in the youngcst two grades as opposed to 1h is year's 58. These kids like to act the same as older kids. 1l'au'll see them in class and sports as real big shots when by themselves but as little shots when included in the high school activities. Grade 7 The sevcnlh grade has been very close in manyr ways such as lheir working together on the Winter Car- nival. Let's hope they keep that close- ness for the remaining school years.
