J V Girls' Baskefbal! This years team with a 5-12 record was the first JV team to play in a tournament. With this experience and a mu 17-game schedule they shouid improve their record next year. 26 Varsify Baskefball This year's 2-15 record doesn't reflect the season well as 7 losses were by 5 points or less. and Gail was named to the All- SIar team as one of the league' 3 high scorers. Coach Wolynec came out of reiiremeni for a struggling giris' team. Despite finding them and their problems quite different from his preview; teams, he did give them guid- ance they will carry wiih them to a more fulfilling season next year. LaFrance Jr. High Baskefball and Cheerleading 28 The JV basketball team was coached by rookie Kevin Keefe. ThEIr record for the year was 9-18. However, the team did take 3rd place in the West Rutland Tourna- ment, making this the first JV team ever to do so. The JV cheering squad consisted of Geri Matusiak. Standin The irt high boys had an excit- ing season, finishing with a good record. Ending the season was the annual 'tpeanut game where they played the varsity girfs. They won again but by a smaller margin this year. The jrt high cheerleaders with their , Coach Godlewski, P. Laskv. F. Goodrich, W. Tromr Trini Caceres, Randee Felie, Cathy Supancic, Ellen Smith, Conni Jet- hert, and Ellen Soulia. These girls spent many hours after school practicing moves, timing, and rhythm. They created many new cheers which kept up the PHS spirit. bley, S. trationl E. Supancic. R. Jalbert; Kneeling, B Adams. J. Fiske. K. Ratti. 5. Anderson advisors Ann Loso, Sue Degnen, and Diane Anderson worked hard on their cheers after school. The result was the first piece trqp-hy in the cheerleading cempetltion. Watching these girls you can see the judges made the right choice.
