The wind that made the grain wave gently yesterday blows down the trees tomorrow. And the sea sends sailors crashing on the rocks, as easily as 1! guides them safely home. 1 love the sea but it doesn't make me less afraid of it. I call him Man. the endless runner in the struggle to survive the years, the toil. the Joys. the pain, Still hearing the faith that weaves its web on a single thread to eternity. Icall him llcaler. the baim in times when blackness and all its bitterness beyond A soul that yet glows as an ember whipped by a wind in its Ecstasy for living. I call him Brother, a man in peace who reaches out from blackness into light Over the line. jaggedly drawn from fear, distrust. and age, to lives beyond his narrow stretch of time . Trust us' Brother, for we touch. grasp, and stretch together beyond all time. Reverend Wright . . . .7...- .9. -h-x I've been going a long time now; along the way I've learned some things You have to make the good times yourself. Take the little times and make them into big times . .. Think of ail the mcn who 11mm klluw Lin; .mswurs. Think of all of Ihosc who never mun cared . Still there are UIDSL' who asky why. who want 10 know; who LIEll'C to try. . . . but I'm just a man who needs and wants manly things he'll ncwr 11am, looking for that thing that's hardest to find. 1 Hi; In Mammy ijoIm Carri; The worth of a friend can never be really measured. John Curtis was indeed a friend to the students and ad- ministration of Proctor High School. He was a strong link between the communiiy and school, a concerned citizen. and an understanding father. This year the staff has attempted to keep the paper going. This can be difficult at times, but the staff must be commended on their fine efforts. This year we all have warmly wel- comed the up-to-date news in addi- tion to the short stories and poems of the students. This has added a great deal of appeal to the paper. We all look forward to even more impmve- ment in the upcoming years. Natiomz! Honor Society This year, the llcdfield Proctor Chapter of the National 1101101 Society has overcome tradition. In the past it has been merely an honor bestowed upon the clue of the upper- classmen . this year the Society has decided to take prompt acrion to insure that a compre- hensive evaluation of the union school proposal is made. To do this, the Society has decided to visit existing union schools and to draw parallels to our own situation. We hope that the member's intellectual prowess will even- tually lead to constructive proposals. ABOVE . Darlene who? Student Council R 1, K. Fletcher; N. Kennedy; 1... Puckett; S. Smith. R 2, C. They have become an integral part of the school's program. This year we are lucky to have the president of the 1970- 71 session of Lhe Vt. Asses. of Student Councils in the person of Tom Dory. Now that the summer's come and gone I'll say goodbye. Now that the winter's comin' on I'll say goodbye. I'm not the first man or the last who had a thirst to leave the past. So while the autumn rain is falling I'll say goodbye. For every star that falls to earth a new one glows. For every dream that fades away a new one grows. When things are not what they would seem you must keep following your dream. So while my heart is Still believing 1'11 say bood-bye. I'm just a man and nothing more . . . Because another road is calling I'll say good-bye. -- Rod McKuen 72 . , I 1 - I I h -'. A ' r 55.25....uiu. n... 47......9. . . H . - . f 'Jt-fr
