EVENING IN TAHITI Queen Carol and His Grace Rollie: Our Junior Prom was very cozy - 24 couples. Everyone present, $ though. had a good time except for the spectators ejected by Mr. Abbott; The decorations, depicting a Tahitian paradise. were excellent. They should have been; we worked t on them from 8 A.M. to 4 P.M. I The promotion, however. was I lacking - and we: lost $127, Oh, well . . . I Cream of the Crop 4. Someone Came! U. The Court, headed by Carol Goll- strom and her escort Tom Grace, was picked by our bani The Keynotes. Freshman waiters and waiuesses pro- vided the refreshments of punch and cookies - not very original, but quite satisfying. All in all. our prom wasn't too bad. We had fun doing it, but sure breathed a sigh of relief at its climax.

Callus 1n the fall of 1965, the Proctor Phantoms completed their most successful soccer seascm ever as they won their first state seccer championship with a 113'thl record. ri'he Phantoms also won their ninth straight Marble Valley League Chatttpionship, allowing only seven goals during the regular season. Headed by Coach 'Iom Lawmn and co-captains Don Callus and Kevin Austin, the Proctor ll defeated a determined Springlield hallcltih by a score of 1-0 for the initial win of the 1965 campaign. Traveling to Chester, the Phantoms whipped the htghly-rated Sentinels 3-2 in double overtime. Returning home. Proetur easilyr up- ended Wetllt'ngl'otd t-i-U. Hosting atch-rival Otter Valley. Proctor downed the Otters 2-1. At Ltidlow, the Phan- toms bombed the Presidents 11-2. The sacond meeting between Springfield and Proctor was equally as tough as the first. l'Iowevet, the Phantoms were again on top 2-1. Proctor clinched at least a tie for the MVI. as they shut out the Sentinels from Chester by a score of 2-0. Wallingford hatf'improved little as they fell before the Phantoms 6-D. Otter Vailey hosted the Phantottls and was presented'with a b1tmt4-1 defeat. Proctor completed the regular season with a 3-0 win over Ludlow. In tile first round of the state tournament, Proctor faced undefeated Leland 8:. Gray. and won 5-0. The sema- finals saw undefeated Swanton against Proctor. and the Phantoms grabbed a 3-0 victory. PIOCIOI then proceeded to display one ot the finest passing attacks ever as they netted the state championship by beating Danville 3-1. At left, goalie j. Pol- Jacik and defensive teammates turn back Utter Valley's attempt at goal. At right, I. Candon, E. Pentkowski, K. Austin and goalie J. Poltacik display the defense that allowed only 8 goals during the entire season.
