Senior 61255 tEIsfory In September. 1961. we entered our freshman year at P.H.S. At our first class meeting WE eiected Ronald Gyorfi as our president: Robert Austin. vice-president; Betty Smith. secretary. and Edward Baccei. treasurer. Katherine Kynoski was elected Assembly Committee represent- ative. Our first difficult three weeks ended in the Freshman Reception. We were now initiated members of the high school. April marked the event of the class's first dramatic endeavor, a one-act play, entitled Gone About Girls. Out big undertaking was our class dance. It was named Memory Lane, and the theme was a flower garden. The year ended as we looked for- ward to being sophomores. . We began our sophomore year by electing class officers: Robert Austin, president: Ann Baket, vlce-presideut: Betty Smith. secretary: and Janine Mayo, treasurer. Katherine Kynoski was again elected to be our Assembly Committee representative. Our first activity was again the Freshman Reception. but this year we were the committee for decorations. Ianuary began the second semester, and a series of meetings concerning class tings. It also marked the be- ginning of our second one-act play. The Storm, directed by Mrs. Mahoney. Out sophomore dance was held in May, and it was named after an instrumental popular at the time-e Pipeline.' The year ended with the usual routine of final exams, final assembly, and graduation. Our junior year began inconsequentially, though it would turn out to be the most significant and heart-breaking year of our high school period. We elected our class officers: Janine Mayo, president: Robert Austin, vice-president: J ane Mazut. secretary: and Ann Baker. treasurer. Then came the Freshman Reception and Student Council elections. as usual. Our Sadie Hawkins Dance was planned for the 22nd of November--then, in one shattered second the world crashed in about our heads as we heard the terrible news over the public address system--the President was dead. The Sadie Hawkins was cancelled and the nation entered a 30-day mourning period. After Christmas vacatioa we somehow managed to pull ourselves together and again began to look forward toward the future. In spring we presented the winning play in the Junior One-A ct Contest- - The Boot, starting Robert Austin in the title role with Betty Smith as his leading lady. 0.1: next big event was out U. S. Histm-y field trip; this year on! choice was Fort Ticonderoga. 0n the morning of May 25 the usual buzz of students was missing from the halls. Tears streaked many faces--everyone were shocked expressions. We had lost three members of our student body in a. horrible automobile accident--Mary Hurhula, Diane Pomainville, and Robert Austin. The rest of the year dragged dimly by. The only light in our darkness was our Junior Prom. Basing it on a Grecian theme, we suspended long, etepe-paper columns from the ceiling and surrounded a pool of water with real flowers. As the year ended, we looked forward to our next and final year as seniors. We elected Janine Mayo as president again; Dale Dwyer became vice-vpresident: Jane Mazut, secretary: Ann Baker treasurer, and our senior year had begun. Many things faced us this year . . . Freshman Reception initiation . . . yearbook plans . . . graduation preparations. Our senior play, Caught In the Villian's Web was an enormous success. This year our number was reduced to thirtywone as Deborah Fitzgerald, Elsie Senecal and David Rice left us. This final year has been an appropriate finish to our high School years and has brought us many rewarding and educational experiences. t
