MISSING: Patricia Morrison. fXKdfIOI2 afjign of OCIQQ The acknowledged purpose of school is study. In recent years this purpose and recog- nition of those who excel in studies has become nationally prominent. Such programs as the Advanced Placement Program, the National Merit Scholarships, and the National Defense Education Act all testify to the breadth of serious interest on the part of the American people in superior education for our talented young people. Proctor High School has consistently had a higher proportion of good students than would be expected from its size. Much credit is due to the generally superior up until two years ago, there was no special recognition in the school program given to scholars. At that time the Student Council recommended and developed the machinery neces- sary to incorporate a chapter of the National Honor Society in Proctor High School. This society has well served its purpose in our school of encouraging and recognizing good scholarship. It is a real honor for a stu- dent to become a member of the National Honor Society and I commend all of those who have attained this position. At HODLSQZZZEETY the same time Iurge all 9th and 10th graders who would be Q '2 serious students to work hard so that they also may someday -2 , Eg be members of the National Honor Society. W ' gi .
