Foreword Another school year draws to its close. Another class - on: class - is about to graduate, leaving Proctor High School, with heads bursting with knowledge and heatls filled with memories. No more will we rush to get to class before the final buzzer sounds nor run for position in the lunch line. No more will we know me agotu'zed waiting for report cards no: the hours of angulshing study far into the night below a geometry or English test. Throughout the year we have worked and studied, played and laughed, cheered and consoled together. In word and picture we have tried Io capture in the 1957 PROCTORIAN something of the spirit that is Proctor - a spirit composed of happy laugh- ter and shouting in the corridors - a snatch of music from the music room - a fragment of a French conversation record - slams of lockers full to overflowing - bits of chatter between classes - the running of lines before a play. This year has not been a typical one: but from it we have gained much in sym- pathy. understanding. and maturity. Evidences of these. too, are in our book. We hope that in leafing through these pages in years to come youwill recall vivid- ly the hectic committee meetings. the dreamy. but exciting dances. the thrill of winning some contest or honor We hope especially that you will tetnembet yeti: favorite classes, the teachers and administrators who guided your progress, and your many class and schoolmates. Everyone of them is here in these pages. So. with the realization that our experiences here have led to a richer, fuller life for each of us. we present to you the PROCTGRIAN for 1957. the memories We shall always remember the tall. friendly boy with Lhe cheerful smile and the freesswinging stride, who was espeeially at home in the outdoors. Nothing pleased Bob more than to start off before dawn on an all-day hunting or fishing trip. with his dog his only companion. Baseball was his favorite sport. He span: countless hours in practice during the off-season. just waiting for baseball time to roll around again. Al- though his regular position was second baseman 0n the school and Junior Legion teams. he also did some pitching. His dependability, his willing cooperativeness on all class projects. his quiet humor and carefree disposition made being with him a pleasure.
