7am barber shop on the second. and a big hall on the Iast.Hall's used for dances. meetings, suppers, card games, weddin' receptions - in fact it's used for everything. Down the street a ways is the Town Hall. . .juslt had the inside all fixed up. ..plays are held $23? Mummer. Iail's in the basement- Next to the Town Hall is the Club. . . kids used to go there nights and play basketball and ping pong. . .now the National Guard headquarters is these. Town clerk's Office comes next. . .band plays on the terrace here.T-he BFa-an-Etands right on the corner, and the park's across the meter. mutant Marble Company's Offieeis justbeyond the corner. Lots ef wonderfulthingsbuilt with Vermont marble, such as the United Nations Building, and Jefferson Monument - Yep, Marble's won- derful stuff. The Union Church and the Lutheran Church are on this side of town. Must be lots of good people in Pro-c-ISE town's got four churches in all. GueSS that's all there is to say about Our Town just now, The next few pages are given to the Administration... the men who keep this school runnin' smoothly. . .and the faculty. . . seems to me as though they'd give up tryin' to getany learnin' lhroughouthard heads. Guess they know what they're doing though 'cause they've turned out some mighty important citizens. Turn a few more pages and you'll come right smack into the Seniors. . .not a bad bunch of kids when you come right down to it...rt10st of lem have big plans for the future, 'eourse some arcnw decided. Next we meet the Classes...these are the kids who will someday be seniors. ..hope they have as happy school life as had the Class of '56. Organizations and Activities are the next two divisions of this book. . .these keep us pretty busy most of the time. Then comes the Athletics section. Our school plays soccer, basketball and baseball, but basketball is our main sport. .. won IIIL Class C Tournament in Barre last year. Reckon you know what's in the last section - the Advertise- theme . . .never could have had a yearbookif it were n't for them. Be sure to read 'em. won't you?

0 We, the Seniors of 1956, want to remember out town as well as our school. so this book is going to be about Our Town as well as Out School.1.et me be your guide and tell you a few facts about Our Town. . . maybe show you a few of our main buildings. Proctot'sjust one of many small towns in Vermont, but Our Town tit's really just a village; is pretty special to us. . .gums everyone feels that way about his town. Proctot's a clean. peaceful little town. snuggled between two toning green mountains. Prettiest sight you ever saw, those mountains. Yep, Proctor sure is a pretty spot. Most of the houses are white. . . got a few modem ones up On Chattetton Park. Ptoctor's the home of the Vermont Marble Company. . . claims the World's Largest Marble Exhibit. Every year thousands ' of city folk come to see it. The population of out school, countin' the juniorhigh '15 about 140. we're tight proud of this school. . .townspeople built it just three years ago. . .it has a beautiful gymnasium... lost only few basketball game on our court 50 fat. The baseball fieid and the tennis court are tight nearby. Tennis court was built just last year. All the kids are planning to be tennis champs now. Up behind the school is the skatin' rink. a natural be auty spot with big pine trees guardin' it. . .fine place for fun and romance. Be- hind the tink's a long curving road, Town closes it off for siidin' in the winter. If you have a likin' for summer sports, iust take a short walk up the htllto the right of the schooland you'll see the Swimmin' Pool. . .k'tds spend the whole summer there. Otter Creek runs through the middle ofOut Town. 0n the east side of the creek is South Street. ..mostly 3.11 the buildin's over here are houses, except for the Catholic Church. Folks are always stoppin' here to take pictures. Sure is a pretty church, all white marble. Acrossftom the churchis the Cemetery. . .Catholics use one haif. and Protestants the othe:.. . many loved ones are :estin' there. .Up on Hospital Hill's the Proctor HosE'ttal...guess most everybody makes a trip up there sometime. Comin' off Hospital Hill the toad goes past the Libtag, then keeps on goin' over the Marble Bridge that connects one side of town with the Other. .. tourists are always taking pictures of the bridge too. Now we're on the west side oftown...business district is here. The first butldih' we come to has four fioors. rifle range in the base- ment, drugstore and food market on the first floor, office and
