cadets on parade Our Cadet Corps IS organized to teach efficlencv promptness neatness courtesy obedlence responslbxhty organlzatxon not war We had the opportumtv of seelng the cadets ID actlon at the annual Indoor Drlll The stlrrxng muslc of the band and the precise movements of the cadets made a verv colorful and mspxrmg exhlbltxon whlch pleased a large crowd of admxrlng students and fond parents At that tlme too varlous awards were made for lHdlV1dl18l and group achlevements The Second Platoon B Company commanded by Charles Spauldlng turned out the wmner of the manual of arms ack Nlchols It was the thxrd consecutne wm for lack and accordlnglv he now has m hls permanent POSSCSSIOH the Waite Com petltne Rlfle whlch was offered to anv cadet wmnmg this contest for three stralght wears The first Platoon B Companv recexx ed lts share of the honors ofthe vear bemg judged the best drllled platoon of the Corps and showmg the best drxlled squad 1n competxtlon commanded by Edu ard Lang The bed makmg contest was as usual full of fun and actlon Cadets Lathrop and Harper produeed the most actxon and won the ex ent for the Second Platoon B Companv The Corps has reason to be cspecxallv proud of lts band thus sear Besides enter tammg ln fine stx le on warxous occaslons durmg the xear the band dlrected bs Mr Thomasson won thxrd place ln a contest at Washxngton Unn ersnts m April ln whlch fourteen bands competed Its shovs mg was especially commendable when we consxder that many ofthe bands w ere from much larger schools and all of the other contestants entered onlv selected musxclans whlle the Cadet Corps entered xts whole band ehmmatmg no one because of lack of experxence or abxhtv Thls was whollv ln keeplng mth the excellent pohcv of the Corps whlch supports a large band and alms to glxe as manv boys as possxble the advantages of muslcal trammg vuth the result that ex ers cadet that has been ln the School a full vear has play ed m the band an 'xdmlrable record' H1023 .
