Cordis has been our high school principal for twenty- seven years and we hope that he will be with us for many years to come. The whole student body, but especially the seniors, want to thank him for all the patience, understanding, wisdom, and sympathy he has shown us during our high school years. He will always be remembered for his talks at the pep meetings, the announcements over the inter-com system, and his enthusiasm which spread to the whole school. Loren Clark Loren Dallmger Chuck German Doris Streitmatter Ed Bates Kathy Springer Every year the American Legion makes it possible for three boys from Prince ville High School to attend Boys State They are chosen by the student body and spend two weeks on the Springfield fair grounds The boys selected to attend this year were Loren Dallinger Loren Clark and Chuck German The Boys State program includes classes in the different governmental departments as well as mock elections of local and state olificers among the boys The purpose of Boys State is to develop an interest in and a knowledge of the workings of our government Girls State is an annual event held on the MacMurray College campus during the month of June Doris Streitmatter was selected by the American Legion Auxiliary of Princevile to attend Girls State this year and spent a week in Jacksonville The girls elect omcers corresponding to state officials who serve during the week and each girl has an opportunity to hold an oftice Girls State is designed to demonstrate something of the mechanics of government and has proven very educational as well as enjoyable to all who have attended. This year Kathy Springer and Ed Bates were chosen by the senior class and faculty to receive the D. A. R, Good Citizenship Awards. Such an award has been given to the outstanding girl in the senior class for several years, but this is the first year that a boy has received the honor. Kathy's award was based on dependa- bility, service, leadership, and patriotism. Ed's award was based on honor, service, courage, leadership, and scholarship.
