PROFESSOR Lmscrer D ' P ia WL!! Wm Needh .... DEAN Comm' r A W.-it If N School of Engineering is that in Aeronautical Engineering estab- lished in the spring term of 1942 under the direction of Professor Daniel C. Sayre. In addition to the undergraduate work leading to the Degree of B. S. in Aeronautical Engineering, graduate work is offered in the fields of design, research and transport. lt is a generally admitted fact that the student enrolled in any one of these sections finds that his is a hard life, for he carries many more hours on his schedule card than does the normal arts student. But engineers are often envied by B.A.'s in these times, possessing as they do 2-A deferment ratings with their Selective Service Boards which in many cases will enable them to complete their college education. However the engineer knows that his is as great a responsibility as any in the front line and one which he l11LlSt meet fully to justify his continued attendance at college. Both during and after the war more and more engineers will be required and the School of Engineering at Princeton is attempting to anticipate these needs. 21 DocToR S70RK

Wfartime graduates littered the Princeton campus last spring as the Class of 1917 returned for its twenty-fifth reunion and the Class of 1942 prepared to hold commencement exercises in the face of total war. The condition of world meant uniforms for the majority of the graduating class and commencement: speeches fully reflected the impact of the war. During their four-year stay in Princeton the members of the Class of '42 distinguished themselves in the field of athletics. Last year the Tiger football team scored its third consecutive win over Yale for the first time in history. The basketball team was barely nosed out of the EIL crown by Dartmouth. The Varsity swim- mers bowed only to the mighty Elis. Both the lacrosse and tennis teams enjoyed national championships, while the baseball team walked away with the EIL title. 23
