THE Cheque Bank was incorporated in 1873, the object being to intro- duce a System that would give the Traveling Public, and parties remitting money, a Security that would be equal in value to a Bank of England Note, only safer for the purposes of carrying and remitting. Under the Articles of Association it was required that the Capital and Guarantee Fund should be invested in British Government Securities or Bank of England Stock g and further, that Customers' Deposits, and Moneys received from the sales of Cheques Qother than the amount of Cash held in hand to meet daily requirementsj should all be invested in British Government Securities or Colonial Government Securities tguaran- teed by the British Governmentj and Bank of England Stock. The Bank is not allowed to discount Notes nor Bills, nor allow an overdrawn account, nor make advances on other securities than those mentioned above. Consequently, the Assets of the Cheque Bank can all be converted into cash on a few hours' notice. The Bank has established a connection with all the leading Banking Houses in Europe, and other parts of the world, whereb the Cheques of the Cheque Bank will be cashed on presentation VVITHOUT CHARGE. The Cheque Bank has made an arrangement with several of the British Government Ofhces, Steamship, Railway, Telegraph and Cable Com- panies, by which the Cheques of the Cheque Bank will be accepted as cash. For the benefit of Travelers, the Cheque Bzuik has made an arrange- ment with upwards of 250 of the principal Hotels in Europe, whereby Holders of Cheques can get the same cashed in settlement of Hotel Bills, etc., and thus be saved much expense, annoyance and time, for they can be cashed before and after banking hotus, on fete days and holidays. The .Holders of Cheques are accredited to the principal Banking Houses in Europe, where they can obtain information and advice, even if they do not require to get their Cheques cashed. n The Cheque Bank System has been approved by the principal'Bankers in the United Kingdom and the Continent of Europe, and therefore recommends itself to the public at large.
