OPE RATIGNS The Operations Department has many and varied responsibilities. lt must plan, schedule and coordinate the Ship's, activities. The foremost task of the Department's five divisions is the collection, evaluation and dissemination of combat and operational information. The Combat Information Center, manned by OI Division, is in charge of collecting, displaying and evaluating combat information. In addition, CIC aids in the safe navigation of the ship. V The personnel of OE Division, under the Electronics Material Officer, are charged with the task of maintaining all the complex radar and communication equipment necessary for the accomplishment of PRINCETON's mission. OCS Division mans the signalbridge. Known as signalmen, these personnel are charged with maintaining visual communications with other ships and shore facilities. The men of OR Division are the radiomen of the ship. They operate all the advanced communication equipment aboard. To them is entrusted the responsibility of maintaining commimications between the ship and other naval commands. The Ship's meteorological and photographic services are provided by the men of OS Division. Within this division are weathermen who must analyze weather data and prepare weatherforecasts. The photographers must be everywhere at once, making sure of capturing all events of significance concerning PRINCETON, The Operations Office Staff are also members of the OS Division and keep the ever-necessary flow of paper work going smoothly. These five divisions, manned by highly-trained personnel, perform many of the tasks which are essential to PRINCETON's mission. Together, they compose the Operations Department.
