UPERATIONS IJPICUK I-ICUSE I AND NATHAN I-IALE In the pre-dawn light of June 18, the Amphibious Ready Group silently and swiftly launched Operation Deck House I against the Viet Cong in the Song Cau area of South Viet Nam, A search and destroy operation, Deck House I ended a long period of undisputed VC control of villages in this rice-producing coastland. The assault ships Alamo and Pickaway put troops and equipment on the beach, while Princeton's Marine helicopters not only landed troops behind enemy coastal positions but flew night and day in support of operations ashore. Upon completion of Deck House I on June 27, Princeton and the other units of the Amphib Ready Group entered into Operation Nathan Hale being conducted by the U.S. Army's lst Cavalry Division just south of the amphibious objective area. This equally-successful operation was concluded July 2. 3 P A Landing Signalman gives the pilot the takeoff sign. 4 . Aw A Combat Cargo man leads his squad of Marines to a waiting helo. A wounded Marine just returned from the beach is given aid on the flight deck,
