If we're in E, R, or HA division, our faces are familiar and you will see us going about our work and living a normal shipboard life. Those of us in HB or M division live unknown to you ina strange world, secluded in the bowels ofthe ship. ' In Auxiliary division our jobs are quite diverge. The hydraulic gang handles elevator pumps. You name it and weill make it in our machine shop. Air conditioning and refrigeration keep some f b b o us usy, ut we all must agree that our boat shop boys are the most important people on board- they keep the liberty boats running. In UB and M , we seldom see the sun. It is a world all its own, one of heat and noise, boilers and tanks, turbines and generators, pipes and valves, 40 snipes and 150,000 horses. We distill water, turn valves, read gauges, make steam turn propellers, move the ship, get dirty, but mostl y we sweat. In Electrical division we man the power distribution switch boards, emergency diesel generators. We can fix any electrical machinery from fans to bakery ovens. By the way, be nice to us, we're the ones that show your movies. divisions we work in the heart of the ship-the boiler rooms and fire rooms Repair division is the real can do outfit Here we weld work w'th h . , 1 s eet metal, install piping, repair leaks and maintain damage control equipment. With our ship fitters and damage controlmen we'll keep the Sweet Pea ship-shape or at least afloat. It is Engineering, then, that keeps the ship in 1 piece and keeps it steaming. You can thank us for getting you to that Pacific paradise, and you can thank us for bringing you home again.
