Perhaps the men held most in awe aboard ship are the Quartermasters. The science of Navigation is a very mysterious one to the laymen and it is almost incompre- hensible to him that the stars, sun, and moon provide information from which a determination can be made as to the ship's exact Longitude and Latitude in the middle of thousands of square miles of landless ocean. The men of Navigation will tell you it's not so hard with the sextants, charts fnot 'cmapsf' sillyl, almanacs, loran and other navigational aids they now have. But still we wonder as we see their eyes scanning the sky for a cloud hidden sun or the first glimpse of the evening stars. They got us thereg NOW . . . will they geti us home?
