This department employs yeomen, personnelmen, lithographers, journalists, and a master- at-arms force composed of many other ratings. These men are distributed among the I2 offices of X Division: Ship's Office, Personnel Office, Print Shop, Legal Office, I 81 E Office, PIO Office, Library, Technical Publica- tions Library, Athletic Gear Locker, Chaplainis Office, and Hobby Shop. The crew comes into contact with Administration in many ways: whether it is reading the Plan of the Day prepared in the Ship7s Office, seeking legal advice at the Legal Office, reading the Ship's newspaper published by PIO, or getting a new I. D. Card at the Personnel Office, the men in this department will do their best to help you.

E. E. WOOD con usN Executive Officer March 1963 Commander Wood hails from Liberal, Kansas, and attended Southwestern College, Winfield, Kansas, and Wichita University, Wichita, Kansas. He entered the NAVCAD Program and was designated a Naval Aviator in early 1943. Commander Wood was ordered to duty as an instructor in the Flight Training Program upon receiving his wings. Later he graduated from the American Airline School at Fort Worth, Texas, and in 1945 was ordered to VE-1 at San Diego. From 1945 until 1948, he served with VR-11, VR-4, and VR-8. He graduated from General Line School at Monterey, California, and reported to NAS, Pensacola, as assistant personnel officer. While at Pensacola, he ,attended the Armed Forces Information and Education School at Carlisle, Pennsylvania. In 1950 he reported to COMFAIRSEATTLE as assistant operations offi- cer. Commander Wood reported to VP-9 in 1951, where he made tours to Alaska, Hawaii, Japan, and Korea. In January 1953, Commander Wood was ordered to the office of the Secretary of Defense in Washington. He was ordered to sea duty in January of 1956 aboard the USS Gardiners Bay as operations officer. In December 1957, Commander Wood reported to VP-19 as Executive Officer and in November 1958 assumed command of the Squadron. In January 1960 he reported to the Naval Auxiliary Air Station, New Iberia, Louisiana, as Operations Officer, and from there to the USS Princeton as Executive Officer in March 1963. He holds the Air Medal, American Theatre Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, National Defense Service Medal, China Service Medal fExtendedj, Korean Service Medal fTwo- Stars and Fleet Marine Force Combat Operation Insigniaj , United Nations Service Medal, Korean Presidential Unit Citation.
