DINALUPIHAN The cruise is over, the mis- sion of the PRINCETON is completed, another ship has a c c e pt e d responsibility for maintaining the peace in the Western Pacific. As we look back with a 'measure of pride at our accomplishments, we will never forget the forty- three boys and girls from St. Benedict's Orphanage in Din- alupihan, Bataan, Philippines. They spent Christmas Eve aboard PRINCETON, perform- ed, had dinner in the Crews' Mess, watched Santa land by Helo, received many gifts, and wormed their way into our hearts. Each successive Satur- day, the volunteer working pa rti es to the Dinalupihan Orphanage grew larger and larger. The enlisted men work- ing together on their own free time completely rewired the institution, repaired all broken furntiure, repained the interior of the building. Money was collected at the ship's church services to help meet the operational expenses of the school and buy such needed articles as food, clothing, an electric refrigerator, s ev eral electric irons, school supplies and toys. The 'Princeton was continually in the thick of ar- rangements for orphans par- ties, tours, donation of books, supplies and monies for less fortunate persons. The Prince- ton is an unselfish ship-these pictures show only a minute part of the good work done by the Princeton and led by her chaplain.
