The 59 ers It was 1n the fall of 1955 that 28 nervous llttle twerps found themselves bur1ed 1n the p1t of Prmceton H1gh and gradually reahzed that they would be the Class ot 59' Mr Metcalf the1r freshman advlsor qu1ckly set them stralght on who would be boss around here Undaunted they proceeded to elect Jlmmy Yahr as the1r presldent and to begm to part1c1pate 1n the hfe of the school Down on the1r knees on 1n1t1at1on day the frosh were s1ng1ng the pralses of those pesky sophs to the tune of Its a Sm to Tell a L1e They surv1ved the crazy costumes and nutty stunts and later sponsored a thank you party to assure the1r betters that all was forg1ven Well almost' Up 1n the soclal studles room as sophs our heroes met Wlth the1r new advlsor Mr riuelster When football homecomlng t1me came around they showed the1r talent by wmnmg flrst pr1ze on both the1r flne wlndow and the1r clever Iloat And even greater talent when lt came to the Job of 1n1t1at1ng the new frosh' How presldent Ken Wolter stayed awake dreamlng up l1v1ng n1ghtmares for those poor v1ct1ms Clalre Lfelger served as presldlng off1cer of the 59 ers durlng the Junlor year up t1ll the t1me when the prom k1ng was elected Class rlngs caused the usual flurry of exc1tement dur1ng the flrst semester Early 1n the year Saxl Along Sllvery Moon was selected as the prom theme and the class lmed up Les John s orchestra to supply the musrc for the mght of Aprll 25th LEST WE FORGET B1g strappp1ng Dave Stanton was chosen prom kmg by h1s classmates and Dave asked da1nty Clalre uelger to share the royal throne w1th h1m' The prom was carrled out IH a dreamy blendmg ot s11ver and blue as s1x couples from the class made up the court fSee page 14j The post prom party was held at the Bel A1r Club The class mox ed over 1nto the sc1ence room to take up the1r role as grand old semors 1nher1t mg Mr Lueck from last years graduates' By th1s t1me the 59 ers had earned the1r re putat1on an act1ve bunch and oh such eaters lhose rummy COOk16S durmg m1d mornmg moo ' Wrth Norm Prachel as the1r presldent the senlors successfully superxlsed football home We Shook the Famlly Tree was the t1tle of the sen1or class play an outstand1ng dramatlc productlon presented the evemng of May oth tSee oppos1te pagej As the 59 ers make the1r way out of the com munlty hall on June 4th probably the last class to be graduated from the old school the young men and women are aware of a Splrlt of umty wh1ch they shall never forget They ga1ned th1s Splflt not only through the grand events of the1r f1nal year-careers day class day the1r class banquet and commencement but also through the wonderful exper1ences of every wonderful moment they spent together 1n the classroom and out throughout four thr1ll1ng years' We salute the grand old class of 59' H . ,, . . .
