Spothghtmg The Past. . . On August 31 1953 twenty four be w11dered frosh assembled for the f1rst tlme 1n the p1t After Mr Behnke the1r adv1ser had read them the rules they t1m1dly made the1r way to the1r classes After a few weeks the fresh1es were put through the horr1ble tortures of 1n1t1at1on' Who could ever forget the l1pst1ck the bushel baskets for books and the crazy costumes they were forced to wear Somehow they survxved and 1n apprec1at1on gave the sophomores a masquerade party whlch turn ed out to be a huge success The frosh really got 1nto the Splflt of homecom1ng The1r Dragnet sk1t for the pep rally showed the1r 1ngenu1ty Mr Metcalf took over as the1r adv1ser Tom Sondalle served as pres1dent through all the1r f1rst year 8Ct1V1t1ES As sophomores the class of 57 moved 1nto the hlstory room where they were to have the guldance of Mr Huelster for the next two years W1th Joe M1ller as the1r presldent they earned the n1ckname Gang on the Go enterlng 1nto all school aCt1V1t16S They sponsored several pep ralhes and plan ned the Chrlstmas party In the1r Jumor year the class of 57 look ed forward to class rmgs and the Jumor prom After allowmg Ann Yahr to dlrect the1r af fa1rs as v1ce presldent they got around to GANG ON THE GO electlng Tom Sondalle as pres1dent and prom klng early 1n the second semester On Aprll 26 K1ng Tom and h1s queen Judy Beyer re1gned over the1r beaut1fully decorated prom Sta1rway to the Stars Arch Adnan furn1shed the muslc and the entlre evemng furn1shed some pr1celess mem orxes for all who attended In the fall of 56 the Gang on the Go returned as alm1ghty semors' Glorla Ab1tz Jomed the class and the sen1o1s were a full two dozen agam Under the presldency of Chuck Sulllvan the cla s Went on to a blazmg flIl1Sh assum mg most of the pos1t1ons of leadersh1p m school affa1rs Mr Lueck the senlor adv1ser took over ball homecom1ng Ann Yahr and Bob Re1ser relgned over all the fest1v1t1es Father Knows Best was the very success ful senlor class play a comedy bullt around a fathers well meanlng but blunder1ng at tempts to run h1s famlly r1ght In March the semors enjoyed an out1ng together go1ng by bus to Randolph where they part1c1pated IH Vocat1onal Gu1dance Day really remmdmg them that they would soon be out 1n the w1de w1de world The class banquet the fun f1lled class nlght and the solemn ceremonles of com rnencement nlght w1nd up four wonderful years for the gang of 57 As Frosh As Sophs As Busy Jumors Page Eleven I I Q - Y , s - 1 s - a . 1 I lf ' 7Y ' ' I i I y . l , . . . 7 ' . , , . . . , u ' as o , 1 1 .
