Sports JIM KALUPA TAKES HAND-DFF to make a first down for the fighting Tigers. Many a MEMBERS OF THE BENCH watch intently, eager to get thrlling play was witnessed by the faithful Princeton fans during the '56 season. back into the game, as events on the field take a turn. Football If you look only at the won-and-lost column, it was a sad season for the Tiger stars of the gridiron, since the closest they came to victory was in the season's opener as they tied Fox Lake 13-13. Although they played some good football, they dropped their remaining six contests. Out- classed by Markesan and Rio, they put up a good fight against Randolph, and lost by a single touchdown to Fall River, 6-12. The team employed the single-wing in meet- ing the tough competition of the Dual County Conference, but effective blocking failed to materialize. Coach Ball expects to switch back to the TU formation in the 1957 season, when the emphasis will be on speed. The future looks bright, with a number of lettermen returning: George Giese, Jim Krueger, Larry Rose, Bill Schultz, Dave Stanton, Jimmy Yahr, Jim Wesner, and Bill Eickelman. Graduating lettermen who will be missed are Bob Reiser, Jim Kalupa, and Jim Siddall. at 5,3 I is QA? ' l Sintra 4.2 f THE 1956 FOOTBALL TIGERS Standing: Coach Ball, B. Reiser, B. Eickelman, J. Coach Lueck was counting on a small nucleus of seniors, combined with several im- pressive looking juniors, to carry the Tiger fortunes through the spring season. Underclassmen were out in numbers. If quantity means a strong bench, Princeton's re- serve power Would be providing some real depth as the schedule of games began to unfold. The interest in the springtime diamond activity on the part of freshmen and sophomores means that Princeton High should have a strong team for several years to come. -- W With The Regulars . . . The record could not indicate the spirit and determination displayed by the boys in red and white. Often on the short end in height. they were seldom outfougght. An added thrill was given the fans when the Tigers drubbed Cambria, to clinch third place in the tournament at Pardeeville, George Giese brought honor to our school in being elected to the All-Conference first team.
