Adam had a fantastic finish to the season as he placed 3rd in the NCIC, 2nd in the District, 3rd in the Sectional meet and 4th in the State meet qualifying for All-State honors. Noah also accepted the challenge by winning the District meet after finishing 8th in the NCIC, placed 4th in the Sectional and 7th in the State meet also being named to the All-State team. The District title was the sixth since 1974 in both Class A and AA while the Sectional title was the school’s third all in Class A. The fourth place finish in the Class A state meet was just three points from third place and was the third time that our team has placed in the final four in the past six years. The frosh-soph team of Tony Grace, Thad Boss, Doug Schroyer, Brad Anderson, Tony Harris, Rob Koger, and Pat Lilley finished with a 6-2 season including 2nd place finished at the Princeton, Rock Falls, and Dixon Invitationals after winning the Oregon Open and placing third at the very large Amboy Invitational. Individual team leaders were juniors Jerry Oaks, a 98 pound wrestler with over twenty wins and a finalist at the Pontiac Tournament, and 167 pound junior Steve Patterson, sectional qualifier, fourth place finisher at NCIC and P.I.T. Tournaments, and third place finisher at Regionals. Jerry and Steve were elected by their teammates as captains for the 1985-1986 season, as well as Steve being voted Most Valuable and Jerry being picked Most Improved for the season. Winner of the Ten Second Take- down Award was Senior Vince Horton and The Most Improved Frosh-Soph award went to Freshman Jim Morris. The team will return seven experienced junior wrestlers and four underclassmen with quality varsity experience. We opened our season by hosting our first ever girls’ holiday tournament. We finished second, losing to a fine Lostant team. Our conference record was not great at 3-8, but we lost some close games to some very fine teams. Two of our more thrilling games were played against St. Bede and Marquette. We lost to St. Bede in overtime but we defeated Marquette after time had expired when Lisa Larkin made a free throw. The highlight of our season was being crowned champions at the St. Bede Regional after we defeated Wyanet, St. Bede, and Putnam County. This is only the second regional ever won by the girls’ basketball team. The squad consisted of many intelligent, dedicated young women who had a positive approach to the game of basketball. We are going to miss the senior leadership we had on the squad, and we wish them the best of luck. We are also anticipating more exciting years in girls’ basketball to the success that our freshman and sophomore teams experienced this year. Varsity Girls' Basketball Team Row 1: Kim Lorcnzen. It was an exciting season which will establish this team as one of the finest in Princeton High School Basketball History. For the first time in over twenty years Princeton nabbed a share of the N.C.I.C. championship. It was an exciting conference race, which was won in the last game of the season. Early in the season the Tigers’ 3-0 record in the Thanksgiving Tournament allowed them to capture first place for the second year in a row. The next tournament challenge came during the Macomb Holiday Tournament. The Tigers played in the championship game taking 2nd place. The final accomplishment of winning the N.C.I.C. sums up the excellent competitive spirit of the Tigers throughout the season. If there was a formula which led to the success of this outstanding team it surely began with their dedication and hard work, both in the season and during the off season. Their developed skills were magnified by their intense competitive spirit and group unity. We would like to salute the effort and accomplishments of this outstanding team. We know that they will always be remembered as one of the best in Princeton High School history.
