'ARITHERS 11130-l 946 So little time he had to stayg The years too swiftly passed away. Yet earth to him gave bounties fair And nature's secrets, rich and rare. He knew the sun's ruddy glow And sec-ret glens where wild-flowers grow: The sweet, fresh svent of new-plowed fields: The richness that the harvest yields. The creatures of the wood he knew Their habits and the way they grew: The thrill of pulsing life in spring: The throbbing beat of fledgling'-s wing. He loved the joyous summer hoursg The cooling drench of sudden showers: The fall, when forest leaves turn brown And scores of nuts come tumbling down. The winter with its tingling air, When sports relieve the mind of care: The frolics rural youth enjoy: The fun of being just a boy. His days o'er-flowed with happy thingsg The joy and laughter friendship brings The sam-red tie of those who love, And faith in future life above. Life gave to him the best she had: His going then should not be sad For the choicest boon that life can give Is that in leaving it, we live. Suv tlwtlttwv site mike-a'0nt Huba! Hum!! Christmas Eve in a Trailer 'Twas the night before Christmas and all through our trailer, Everything was as quiet as a poor lonesome sailor. The stot-kings were laid real neat on the floor In hopes that Saint Nitholas rould fill 'em from the door. 'Cause Maw and I on the roll-way and the kids on the rot. Took up all the space and no more 1-ould be got. Out in the parking lot I heard a clatter like lids, But I was afraid to get up-I might step on the kids! So I laid there and prayed that Santa 1-ould find us. When suddenly I heard a noise beyond the wall just behind us. It sounded like sleigh bells and a Mamma-doll squealing But when I rose to look out I hit my head on the ceiling. So I rose just an inch and peeped under the blind, When what to my wondering eyes should I find?- But standing next to in the snow, Was dear ole St. Nick He took his bag from toward our door Opened it quietly and the trailer, ankle deep . his fave all aglow. his sleigh and came 'saw the socks on the floor. He filled them as full as the seams would allow, Then -started stacking toys on the floor in a pile. With our limited space these stacks made me sigh, But I was awfully glad our kids hadn't been passed by. I rose once again to watch Santa leave-but again I hit my head, So I gave it up as impossible and lay back down in bed. But I heard the old fellow exelaim, 'ere he drove out of sight, Merry Christmas to folks packed in trailers tonight! -JEAN WOODS C lIll1l,l'Illl'HfS of M12 and Mrs. Eugene W.
