Donna Beckett and Shelia Meadows model two types of dresses frequently worn by PHS girls. Kelly Bostic and Greg Rose seem to be comfortable in their levis. The styles and trends that are HERE in 1979 at PHS vary in many different ways — from beautiful velour dresses to those old, worn-out levis, and the miserable 3- piece suits to luxurious “Nikes”. Types and styles of songs also change constantly. They range from a hard disco beat to a slow one. From HERE in 1979 to THERE in 1980 the styles and trends will constantly change. Just watch and see. PHS OBSERVES Homecoming memories are made of friends, floats, football games, friends, ceremony, parades, mums, spirits, friends, teachers, elegance, bands, dances, and friends. Homecoming at PHS is that special time each autumn when the students elect a royal court, when classes compete against each other in float building, and when the student body unites in defeating the football opponent. Most importantly. Homecoming is that time when PHS welcomes its alumni to the parade and the game. For many seniors Homecoming is a sentimental experience as they are nearing the end of their days at PHS and that soon their paths will be separated from those of their friends. The purposes of this organization are to develop competent, aggressive business leadership, create more interest and un- derstanding in the intelligent choice of business occupa- tions, to encourage members in the development of in- dividual projects and in establishing themselves in business, and to strengthen the confidence of young men and women in themselves and their work. Upon trying to establish these goals, we have had guest speakers at each of our meetings talking to us about business jobs and their responsibilities. We have also done things to aid the people in our school and community such as preparing Easter baskets for the children and older people at the hospital, and also preparing cupcakes for the teachers at Easter. We hope to be able to serve our school and com- munity for many years to come. Andy Key. from the National Business College, entertains FBLA members. GAA GAA — Back Row: Rhonda Six. Robin Goings. Jeff St. Clair directed the offense from his point guard position while Stephon Murray aided the team with his strong rebounds. Celestial “Stairway to Heaven” decorations, a delicious shrimp and fruit buffet, and the melodious music of Clockwork were featured at the Junior-Senior Prom of 1980. The highlight of the prom, of course, was the beautifully gowned ladies and the handsomely groomed gentlemen. The Juniors desired to make this night a special one; therefore, they spent hours planning and decorating for the event. When the magic night had come and gone, all agreed that the prom had been exceedingly successful. Another year goes passing by Another Prom is here To some this brings a joyous smile To others, brings a tear For four years you have tread a path From Dawn to setting sun But now the path gets steeper And the climb is just begun. We’re very glad to know you We'll miss you when you've gone And to the class of '80 We dedicate our Prom. — The Juniors BACCALAUREATE SERVICES Cheryl Thomas played a special role in ihc Baccalaureate service. Katrina Timson is shown leading a prayer during the Baccalaureate service. ARE HELD SUNDAY, JUNE 1, 1980 Many relatives and friends participate in a Baccalaureate service for the 1980 graduates. Reverend Jimmie Jones takes delight in delivering the Baccalaureate sermon. On Sunday, June I, 1980, at 3:00 P.M., 323 seniors, attired in their caps and gowns, marched proudly down the aisles of the Princeton High School auditorium to participate in the 1980 Baccalaureate Service. As Reverend Jimmie Jones preached the sermon he prepared especially for the graduates, mixed emotions covered the crowd of seniors and audience alike. Many seniors were seeing their school years gone by and then seeing a new adventure in the coming years, while many parents were reflecting on their little boy or girl and then seeing how they had grown up. All in all, the Baccalaureate service of 1980 was one that the Class of 1980 will not forget. Bill Campbell seems to be concentrating entirely on walking up the aisle of the auditorium at PHS. These five seniors played a special role in getting the Baccalaureate ser- vice started and finished. 323 GRADUATE IN ’80 AT PHS Graduation is .. . ... a reward after many years of studying. ... a time to celebrate with fellow classmates. ... a chance to share something you’ve strived for with someone you love. ... the last chance to see many classmates. ... a time to feel special and be proud of the paper which proves twelve successful years of schooling. ... a time to say good-bye. ... the end of being a dependent teenager and having to become an adult. ... the first step in becoming what you’ve always dreamed. ... being free. Tonya Elswick and Ted Clements take pleasure in singing the class song, Tuesday’s Gone. Salutalorian Chris Charles proudly addresses his graduating class. Ellen Coburn, ranked third in her senior class, delights in reading the invocation on graduation night. The audience anxiously awaits the moment when their loved one receives his diploma. These seniors seem to be giving their undivided attention to the ac- tivities on the stage. This group of seniors display quite a feu different emotions as their final moment at PHS draws nigh. She began teaching in 1962 with classes in shorthand and bookkeeping. Later she taught typing, office practice and office machines. Her students and fellow faculty members loved her warmth and pleasing personality. She was intelligent and witty, generous and hopeful. Her active mind, candid nature, generosity and sincerity were great contributing factors in her teaching. She valued an innate sense of fairness to all her students. No one is dead until they are forgotten and Mrs. Cunningham will never be forgotten. Do not stand at my grave and weep; 1 am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousands winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning’s hush, 1 am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight, I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there. I did not die. — unknown o N 188 The withered widows stand in line And sing a saddening song They reach to God and shout out loud And still the man is gone, The parents slowly raise their brow To the homage angels pay And we cry out loud in wonderment As little children play The messenger brings lonely words And women softly weep Men stand around with lowered eyes With just memories to keep The funeral march will soon begin As it slowly starts to rain And we see that life goes on As little children play I don’t know of heaven or hell Or to which man will go. Heaven is a working goal While hell is just below I don’t know where the man has gone And I’m weary to say But I swear I saw him rise to the sky As little children play. — unknown David Shell This page is dedicated to the memory of David Shell, a Princeton senior, who was killed in an auto accident on April 17th. David, a friend to many, was known for his infectious smile and outgoing nature. Employed at Mercer County Airport, he was interested in anything pertaining to planes and flying. Motorcycle riding was an activity that occupied much of his free time. The main priority for David was living his life to the fullest and enjoying every moment. All of us who knew David are to be considered very lucky. Though he died at an early age, through his exuberant personality and joyful attitude he enriched all our lives. M M O R Y 189 AND CHANGES HAVE OCCURRED AT PHS Mrs. Hatcher displays gnashing teeth and her Tiger Spirit to the stu- dent body. FROM HERE TO THERE . . . Many things have changed at PHS since September, 1979. We’ve begun new relationships while strengthening old ones, become close to many faculty members, and have grown up to become a little more stable in our paths of life. From HERE at PHS this year, we've strived to become more educated adults, so that we may have a more prosperous future THERE in the coming years. Robbie Cox appears to enjoy more than just a typical day at PHS while climbing Pinnacle Rock. Mr. Ogden appears to be warning his class of things to come. Could Todd Stone be “two-faccdT? Randy A.
