These lines are dedicated in loving memory to Mr. Melvin McClain, former Principal, who gave countless years of devoted service to Princeton High School. Through his personal strength, stature, and wisdom, he guided the youth of our community, earned the respect and regard of his faculty, and made for himself a host of friends. His sunny disposition, kindness, and sympathetic understanding will ever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing and working with him. 13

NOT TO RULE BUT TO GUIDE, NOT TO ADMONISH BUT TO INSTRUCT What greater honor could be paid any teacher than to be elected the favorite teacher of the graduating class? We quote the Seniors as they bestow this honor on Mrs. Wands Hughes: She's taught me more than any other teacher -- Her classes are so interesting I want to learn and try twice as hard -- I have had two classes from her and she's TOPS -- She strives to improve herself as well as her stu- dents -- She always has a smile and a kind word for everyone -- She is thor- oughly dedicated to her profession” -- It is impossible not to learn in her classes, for they are interesting as well as informative” -- She really strives to prepare us for college -- She loves to see people squirm and she sometimes makes us nervous with pop quizzes, yet she can stimulate anyone to study -- She can sure get her point across -- She has set every student in her class to thinking what this world is all about -- She teaches more than World History, she teaches us good citizenship -- 'She has interesting discussions and provides outside materials to emphasize her lessons” -- You have to do everything she tells you to, and you learn something whether you want to or not -- She is interested in every student -- She helps anyone when they need it” -- An excellent teacher, who shows no partiality, and is fair in grading” -- I can truly say that she is the most helpful teacher I have had in high school -- She is enthusiastic and consistent in attitude” -- I feel I have learned more from her than from any other teacher I have had” -- P.S.: She has a big kind hart. WHAT IS LEFT TO BE SAID?
