l : - Ip 'the 1958 TIGER Published by the seniors of PRINCETON HIGH SCHOOL H K Knf. u ¥ iy FOREWORD This is Princeton High School. Lasting friendships have been established here and have highlighted our four years in The Princeton High School flag, embodying the symbols of the various facets of school life Vi a AVAmnlifvR on r mpmoriftS fV loyalty and white for integrity. The tiger signifies not only athletic p r o w e 8 s , but also the entire concept of our school spirit. Above the tiger appears the open book representative of the accumulated knowledge of mankind upon which all fields of academic study are based. At the top of the shield appears the lamp of knowledge; to the left the oak branch which symbolizes strength; and to the right the laurel branch which represents our honors won in all fields. We hope that in years to come when you glance over these pages, you will recall some of the memories that the flag symbolizes and those that were spent in the hallowed halls of our Alma Mater . Itis with sincere admiration and thankfulness that we, the Senior Class of 1958, proudly dedicate our annual to Mr. Karnes Hoge and Miss Peggy Brown. Throughout the past twenty-five years, Karnes, who might rightfully be called Mr. Princeton , has been the number one booster of our school pro- gram. He has always worked tirelessly and unceasingly for the good of the school. Miss Brown, who has served as sponsor of the annual for the past three years , equally shares this dedication. Through her guidance and diligent efforts, she has helped to make possible the publication of the Princeton High School Annual. We hope by this dedication, our small token of appreciation, that these two worthy people will know how much we, the students, have deeply appreciated the work they have done for the good of the school. While we fly off our orbits we see through our telescopic lens a huge new hospital designed by Darla Atkins, Jeano Myers and Gerald Arrington. Heading the staff is Dr. Virgil Kelly with Dr. James Creasey as his assistant, and serving as their medical secretaries are Pat Brown, and Libby Moeller. Scurring around in white uniforms are nurses, Iona Wright, Barbara Johnston, Georgia Ferguson, Carol Thompson, Shirley Nuckolls, Alleta Jo Pitzer, Mary Gillespie, Betty Higgins, and Sarah Elmore. Working in the labor- atory are technition Nancy Howery and Lynn Fanning. As we start to leave the scene we notice across the street the shingles of the up and coming dentists John Strong and Norman Six. The adjoining building is occupied by one of the Hickman chain drugstores managed by pharmacist Roger Hickman. As we make our way over to town seve l large buildings view. The owners are David Mike Fain. Established in o buildings i £h£ law firm of Kibler and their secretari1 Winfrey arid JNancy Davis. Iri building the sVccessful Robert has e m p I o y e d as secretaries members of the 1 958 graduati These are Christine Campanel Campbell, Susan Chamber Crotty, Sue Ann Damewdod, Bonnie Danieley, Margaret Dudley, Peggy Win- frey, Joyce Mann and Peggy Hunter. Now, as we turn our telescope a little to the right we see that in our Alma Mater many of the classroom positions are being filled by our classmates. Head- ing the Home Economics Department are Geraldine Hill and Peggy Minnick. In the English Department we recognize the pepite figure of Margaret Gillespie. Jo Ann Jackson, Dottie Elmore, Bonnie Hut- chinson, Delorse Williams, and Emma Jo Belcher are busy instructing their hyll same ackson al class. Glenna LaVern commercial students. Ann Clemons, Biology teacher, is out in the hall super- vising the hall m o n i t o r system. While passing the auditorium we see Levy Cruise, Drama and Speech instructor, assisted by Sally Crawford, head of the Music Department, planning the annual spring variety show. Miss Agnes Lowe, head of the Journalism Department, is eagerly instructing her Pinnacle Staff in the art of getting news for an advance story. And of course Ann Snead has brought some of her Junior High Students to participate in the program. As we journey on through space we begin to circle the United States Electro- Chemical Research Laboratory located in the heart of the Kanawha Valley. Among those engineers who are industrously working on a n e w electrical experiment are Norris Lewis, Ronnie Snider, Pjiui Kelly, Lindon Taylor, Ted erts, Ronald Bowers, and Lanny Brock, s we focus our lens to view another section of the plant, we find Sam Evans, James Ellis, Robert Farley, David Van Sutphin, Roscoe Smith, Lee Hall, and Conrad Mooney conducting research on a hew type of atomic fuel induction. Coming, closer to the earth's surface we hear the sentimental strains of the Harmonette Combo emanting from the ous Ritz Night Club owned by Larry ri fl e r 8 and Don Wandell. The combo under the direction of Wayne Harman, consists of Betty Shoda, pianist, Kenneth Hicks, drummed, guest soloist, and David Bragg on the saxaphone. Focusing our long-distance lens we see a c om mu nit y church gathering with Mary Holdreri Nina Johnston, and Helen Martin leading the youth in recreation with The Reverend Robert Bennett presiding during the service. Going on our way we whiz past a mountain and spy Scoutmaster, Johnny Cline, with Boy Scout troop 66, hiking up the mountain following the Girl Scouts. Suddenly, we whirl back into outer space with feeling that our try, has been a successful one. Yes, the students of our 1958 graduating class have reached their various goals. 101 LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT We, the Seniors of the Nineteen Hundred and Fifty-eight Graduating Class, being of sound mind and body, do hereby ordain and establish the follow- ing as our Last Will and Testament.
