During the Anna game, Jackson was lugging the ball down the side line with considerable speed and enthusiasm. Baldwin of Anna, also rather hepped up, made a snazzy tackle. Rising slow- ly to his feet, Jackson heard Baldwin growl, I'l1 get him. I'1l kill him. He made me swallow nw tobacco. , . Before the Celina game Qclosest to our coach's heartl Mr. Peterman told us never to let a certain full-back get in the clear. His being a distant UD relative of Mr. Peteman's had nothing to do with the request, of course. Complying with the coach's wish, the full-back never got away. Corry was streaking down the side line for a sure touch down when this fellow made a desperate tackle. Although he stopped Corry, he had to leave the game. Frank said, I'm sorry if he's hurt but, Gee! I'm glad he is out. We went on to win fourteen to zero. ' During the Wylie game, Bobby Mayfield was scooting down the field with an extra burst of speed hoping to cross over into pay dirt. Hr. Peterman had warned us not to indulge in aw - candy or cold drinks but Bobby couldn't resist. He and some more boys got their share. Bobby didn't make the goal but he did swear to high heaven that he had the football in his tuIlgy. During the Frisco game, Jack Harvell decided to do something about the Frisco end runs. On the fourth play after they had the ball, Little Savage started around his right end. That was Jack's home pasture. He left his feet, caught Savage just at the knees, and rolled him backwards, at the sane time asking, Going nv way, Buddy? That stopped those end runs, malcing Harvell play the rest of his defensive game in the' Frisco back field. The Anna ga.me' was the first football game in which Junior Bryant had ever played. Of course, he funbled the ball on his first carry. It bothered him considerably, but with a deter- mined gritting of his teeth he gathered the pigskin into his mid- dle and plxmged for all he was worth. The Anna line piled on. They stopped him but were unable to bring him down. Again and Again Commedore plowed through with the Anna tackles ani guards hanging aJ.l about his arms, neck, and shoulders. After the game, Commedore asked, Mr. Peterman, when they pile on me like that, would it be fair to just shake them off?
