Specially trained in the complex task of coordinating the Hights of scores of planes, these men with the aid of precision electronic equipment dispatch the strikes to the target areas. . .Now, with their mission accomplished, the returning aircraft are over the force waiting for instructions guiding them into the landing pattern of their parent carrier. '-f COMBAT INFORMATION CENTER bustles with activity around the clock as it tracks all con- tacts, decodes tactical signals, and controls aircraft. CONTROLLING COMBAT SORTIES while task force planes are airborne is one of CIC's most responsible jobs. Flights are con- tinually plotted on a verical status board. ALERT for possible enemy sub- marine or mine activity, a lookout in Sky Forward scans the sea with powerful binoculars.
