Lea helmsman transmits speed orders to the engine room. HILE the strikes are in the air over Korea, the business of war continues to occupy the complete efforts of ship's company personnel back aboard the carrier. The minds and muscles of the ship and her men are controlled from the bridge. Here the command decisions are madeg here can be found the Commanding Oilicer, either on the open bridge supervising air operations and task force evolutions, or in the sea cabin transacting the interior affairs of the ship. On the bridge and in the pilot house are the Officers of the Deck, the Quartermasters, and the Boatswain's Mate. From here go the orders to the engine rooms and helmsman. Squawk boxes, radio circuits, and radars pour a continual stream of tactical and administrative information onto the bridge where it must be evaluated and acted upon.
