Where to start in describing? The children with the ever present smile that all ancient fairy tales of this oriental country make possible. Often dressed in the traditional kimonos and obis, they can be seen roaming the streets in quest of laughter that seems to be a by-word with them. The elders who stand by as they watch the Japan of old take on its new and different appearance, not only in the geographic, but also in the educational and political points ol view. And the young folk ol Ai' today, the men and women who 451'51'i,fQE are guiding their country, in what may very well be called her most important period. Witli the in- telligent approaches to all the pro- blems of twentieth century living, and the stoic traditions and wis- dom of a country as old as time, the Japanese people stand ready to retain the importance for which they were previously known.
