ready on -the fantail 40's-all guns are checked daily I V Besides manning the after 40 mm I battery, the Fighting Fourth division is also responsible for various liberty launches and the boat crane. The tonnage handled in manning these latter stations is over- whelming, so much so, that various Stateside firms, hearing of their excellent work, bid for their services. Their full schedule with TF77 necessitated the rejection of these lucrative offers. Painting and chipping is another pleasant past-time undertaken by the division. Liberty has been shunned and, in many cases adamantly refused, in order that the men could devote more time to their art work. To date, a total of 565,- 537 square inches of deck and bulkheads have been scraped, chromated and painted. Their finished paintings, comparable to DaVinci's best, have had a wide showing both onthe West Coast and throughout the Pacific Area. With paint brush and spirits high, they stand ready to do their job and take their place along with the other stellar attractions of the Princeton.
