The division consists of 105 enlisted men and Chief Petty Otlicers, who handle all of the ship's company aviation ordnance work. The division is broken down into separate crews: oflice, compartment, pyrotech- nics, napalm, belting, hangar deck, elevator, torpedo, tool issue, training, third deck for- ward, and third deck aft. This is one of the most versatile divisions aboard ship, utilizing very few men to perform the many and varied functions that are required of them. The division is responsible for the repair and main- tenance of all transient aircraftg the operation, maintenance, and upkeep of all aviation shops and shop facilitiesg engine build-upg portable power plantsg all automotive equipmentg and all the accessory equipment needed to service and maintain complete squadrons of aircraft. A sizeable job for anyone! During such emergencies as fire and General Quarters, V-4 assumes the full responsibility for the repair of any damage sustained on the han- gar deck or the 0-1 level of the ship. The divi- sion personnel of seventy men and two officers are deployed from PriFly to the Mess Deck. The mission of V-4 is to maintain a high state of material combat readiness by securing max- imum availability of aircraft and equipment and to develop expert maintenance personnel. This mission is met by the V-4 Division and accom- plished in a 4.0 manner. V-4 helps considerably to ease the job the job of .....
