For the men of this division there is no thrill and very little glory, the work is hard and their hours long, but they still manage to maintain one of the highest degrees of morale aboard the ship. This morale factor is largely due to the officers and chiefs who guide and keep the division well organized and func- tioning smoothly. The duties of V-3 consist of moving all aircraft on the hangar deck, the upkeep of all hre fighting equipment assigned to the hangar deck, and the maintenance of the hangar deck itself. Although the job ac- complished by V-3 is mountainous the men return to the States with the knowledge of a job well done. V-3 takes pride in the fact that they are one of the hardest work- ing divisions aboard and that they have whipped into shape the finest looking hangar deck afloat. Their hangar deck is often used by the men of ..... This is one of the most versatile divisions aboard ship, utilizing very few men to perform the many and varied functions that are required of them. The division is responsible for the repair and main- tenance of all transient aircraftg the operation, maintenance, and upkeep of all aviation shops and shop facilitiesg engine build-upg portable power plantsg all automotive equipmentg and all the accessory equipment needed to service and maintain complete squadrons of aircraft. A sizeable job for anyone! During such emergencies as fire and General Quarters, V-4 assumes the full responsibility for the repair of any damage sustained on the han- gar deck or the 0-1 level of the ship. The divi- sion personnel of seventy men and two officers are deployed from PriFly to the Mess Deck. The mission of V-4 is to maintain a high state of material combat readiness by securing max- imum availability of aircraft and equipment and to develop expert maintenance personnel. This mission is met by the V-4 Division and accom- plished in a 4.0 manner. V-4 helps considerably to ease the job the job of .....
