For on this ship, airplanes are about the most important machine aboard. The ship's guns, turbines, iceboxes, and crew exist only to allow the air4 plane to be launched or landed on her ilight deck. V In overall control of this air operation, under the Captain, is Commander Flynn.-It's his job to see that the flight deck and hangar deck are spotted correctly, that the planes are gassed and armed, and that the catapults and arresting gear are in order.
