are wearing on planes and parts as pilots brief, planes are loaded with rockets . . . . .The Screaming Dragons. VF-192 was one of the two Corsair squadrons in Air Group Nineteen, and adopted as an ensignia a white snorting dragon with a carrier in the background. The white color denoted the white nosed Corsairs, color call to other aircraft in the air group, and the dragon depicted the ferocity with which VF-192 attacked the enemy. The men of VF-192 specialized in a night variety of Communist hell. Knowing that the enemy, finding carrier based planes overhead all day, had begun to do most of their moving at night, the pilots were trained as excellent night lighters. It was through this teamwork of day-night operations that the Reds were kept on the run twenty four hours a day. After many hours of instrument Hying, night tactics, night attacking, and bomb- rearly room duty officer keeps in contact with air operation ing, and night carrier landings, the Screaming Dragons became the first day fighter pilots to do any appreciable night interdiction work in the Korean Conflict. From the pilots, whose night operations had been purely voluntary, over and above their normal days operations, and to their crews who kept those old white nosed Corsairs flying day and and night, the lighting team of VF- 192 gave the Communists plenty of trouble. The squadron made its first Korean Cruise with the USS PRINCETON in 1950-51 and way back then found that the Sweet P... was the finest carrier in the fleet. VF-192 was noted aboard ship for its pleasing attitude and squadronship's com- pany cooperation. 192 worked and played right alongside ..... e S s while pilots in full flight gear head for planes
