CAPTAIN EDWARD B. HONTZ CAPT Hontz, a native of Watsontown, PA, is a 1967 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis. His first assignment was as First Lieutenant on board USS BIGELOW CDD 9425. He was then assigned to Naval Support Activity in Danang, Vietnam as Boat Group Commander and Asst. Lighterage Officer. CAPT Hontz is USS PRINCETON,s first Commanding Officer. He has presided over many historic events since commissioning. These include the unprecedented port visit to Vladivostok, USSR, combat operations during Operation Desert Storm, and battle damage repairs after the ship received severe damage from two close aboard mine explosions while on station in the Northern Arabian Gulf. CAPT Hontz will be transferring to Dahlgren, Virginia, where he will assume com- mand of the Aegis Training Center.
