l V l l l And some just went away. Just when you thought summer would never end . . . school began. lt seemed like only yesterday that you said your last good-byes to teachers and friends. Taking pictures and exchanging yearbooks through a mixture of tears and smiles, you promised to K.l.'lZ fkeep in touchj. ' From beginning to end, school slipped your mind as summertime activities took over. Some of us surfed and skated, while others basked in the warmth of the sun. Visits to distant relatives were not uncom- mon. Last year's jokers spent the summer in school, but others of us held down part time jobs or went to camp. Though you didn't want to admit it, after a couple of months of sleeping, eating, and watching re-runs, summer became a bore. On the other hand, you dreaded losing your free- dom and your summer fun. Reluctantly you prepared yourself for the first day of school. Another year of early rising, cold cereal, and rushing so we wouldn't be late. Boarding the old yellow bus while still half asleep, you realized that this year would be different. Finally, wide-eyed, you looked among the crowd and felt the chal- lenge of the new faces intermingled with the familiar. Stepping into your first class, doubt clouded your mind. Am I dressed O.K.? Will l make it to second bell on time? But by the end of the week, the hysteria was over, you had settled into your new tine. Summer had been fun, but now it was over and it was time for YOU' . . . a new beginning. L-'Ni me 3
