Pre- paration involves continuous education and evaluation of your experiences. Effort involves initiative, desire, and extra man-hours of hard work. No one can give you Well-being Without taking away your identity as an individual. Your parents and county have demonstrated ' this concept. X - I, ,I it N 'fu f' A-' , N THE TREE OF KNOWLEDGE In the world of wisdom, in the land of learning, There grows a miraculous tree, An everlasting tree for which some are yearning To taste it and to see. With fruit the tree will ever laden be, It's bountiful to the sky, And yet there's no waste on this tree, For its fruits never die. Some find the fruit the sweetest near or far, Others taste it bitterlyg It all depends on who they are, And what their ideals be. Far reaching are this tree's roots Into every land and sphere, To get the nourishment for its fruits And water, cool and clear. This is a tree which all may find But for which only a few are yearning, But it's only necessary to have a mind To enter the land of learning. For this tree is the tree of knowledge, And gems of wisdom are the fruits Growing from the entire college Of the learning of man as roots. By new discoveries this tree is fed, Watered by deep, clear thinking, And thus it can never be dead, Nor ever tire of drinking. The fruit tastes bitter only to those showing They do not want to learn, All who are eager and desirous of knowing May surely its sweet fruit earn. June D. Lancaster Class of '64 2
