We now take you twenty years beyond time in the year of Our Lord nineteen hundred and sixty- seven. The presidency of the Great Atlantic KL Pacific Tea Company of the New England Division keeps me quite busy in Boston. Sometime ago, after a busy day I sent my pretty secretary home and reached for my hat and coat when the door of the office swung open and in walked a short stubby little fellow with a broad smile on his face. I immediately recognized him as my old classmate Roger fTuffyl Phenix. He was the owner of a booming construction company of Hartford, Conn., specializing in roofing and submitted to me plans that I had asked two months ago on a Warehouse and Bakery to be built in Fall River. We both agreed on a first-rate place to have dinner and look over the plans, at the Royal Room of an elaborate nite spot owned and operated by Roger iRedJ Roy, one of our former classmates. As we walked in, our ears caught the sound of wonderful music which sounded familiar to us. It turned out to be Russ Carlton's Band, tltoswell Couturej featuring Joe Valcourt at the keyboard and no one else but Clement Dufour vocalizing. Instantly we were greeted by the owner himself, Mr. Roy, who seated us at a corner table and we began talking of old times at Prevost. I I suddenly noticed the beautiful colored fluorescent lights lining the ceiling, then Mr. Roy told us that it was due to the electrical ingenuity of Maynard 6 Tarvis, co-owners of New England's largest Electrical Contracting Co. As we were about to leave, our eyes caught sight of a handsomely dressed man and his pretty wife about to seat themselves nearby. Of all people to meet in a Boston night club, it was Fernand Bonnoyer who was now head coach of sports at Prevost. He informed us that the Prevost basketball team was playing in the inter-state tournament here at Boston Garden and was favored to take top honors. By this time it was getting late and we had to bid our former classmates good-bye. Roger invited me to spend the week-end with him in Fall River to renew old acquaintances. We were both anxious to arrive in Fall River. Driving along the highway near Somerset I heard a knock in the motor and I pulled up to the nearest gas station. To my astonishment the attendant turned out to be no one else but Philippe Cousineau. He remedied the knock in a jitfy. R. Lnrrivve R. Frrmcoezu' G. Bonnafc P. Gagnon R. Tnrris F. I?oulmycr I.. P. Cousinrnn R. Luton' He was glad to see us because he had not met one of his old classmates since Raymond Lavoie. now a tiuck driver for Gamache Trucking, had come for gas quite a few times on his trips from Fall River to Newburyport, Mass. After a short conversation we proceeded to our old home town. Arriving through the city limits we noticed a luge billboard reading: Cast Your Ballot For Roland Larrivee An Mayor Of Fall River. We were not the least bit surprised to see how our zealous class presi- dent had obtained political reknown and we knew the election would be an easy victory for him. We then proceeded to Roland's apartment and had a good nigh.'s sleep. The next day being Saturday, Roland told me hc had to see Mr. Raymond lMikel Francoeur for outside painting and interior decorating for a build- ing' he had just completed in the Highlands. We visited Mr. I-rancoeur, who had made a success of his interior decoration enterprise. During a short business chat he informed us that during his sparc time he was taking dying lessons at George Bonnafe's flying school. After Hying for the Northeastern Airlines, George had decided to start an aviation school that proved to be a great success. Mike also told us that Mr. Bonnufc had tried to hire Pete Gagnon as flying instructor but Pete refused the otfer because he had signed a contract with the government as their chief test pilot of the ever-popular jet planes. Leaving 'tMike's odice and riding smoothly down Pleasant Street, we noticed a flashy blue truck with large letters, reading: E. L. Bouchard, Fruit dr Produce. We blew the horn and attracted Butch's attention. As soon as he recognized us he swerved around the corner and parked on a side streetg we fol- lowed and parked directly behind him. After convers ng for a while he told us that his business now was prosperous and that he had just made a delivery to Alexandre Dore, owner of Fall Rivei-'s largest fruit store. We suddenly heard the sound of fire apparatus nearing the place where we were standing. The store on the corner appeared to have a chimney fire. Hurying to the scene, we were surprised to see that it was Walter One-llet's Upholstery Store. However. Walter was just as calm as during his schooldays. Not long after, the Fire Chief's brilliant sedan pulled up in front of us. Clear the way, folks , were the first words said by the chief. I immediately recognized the voice as being that of Armand Mclanson who was now Iiire Chief of Fall River. Departing from the scene of the tire we proceeded to the downtown area nl' Fall River, to have a light lunch at Liggettfs Drug. Half way through our lunch we noticed two gentle- men talking at the counter. We recognized them as Andie Giroux and Raymond fDuiYy5 Dufour. They lold ns they were both Certified Public Accountants and Realtors and that Andre had taken over his father's business and Raymond's Oiiice was in thc Academy building. Raymond told us that the otlice of Lionel Cadlin, D.D.S., was adjacent to his. Lionel was getting along very nicely in the work he had always loved. Walking out of the'di-ug store we accidentally humped into Mr. Leopold Clapin and he informed us that he and his brother were the owners of thc L'Ind6pendant , thc French Daily Newspaper, which was formerly owned by his father. He spoke to us about his very good friend Adrien Olivier, who had just returned from a very successful career as oflicer in the Navy. He also told of Romeo fliarmerl Parent who had heroine Sales Manager of the International liarvaster Company. Driving up South Main Street we observed some men renovating a storeg glancing at the sign. we read: Opening soong Bertrand I lrouclzurzl .L Dorf' ll'. Ourllcf A. .ll Inns po.. . f r . an-in-3 1 Giroux R. Dufour L. Cadrin. L. Clapiu Lachnnee's Art Studio . We could see that Bertrand had finally made his hobby into a profession. We could not overlook the opportunity of speaking with him, but unfortunately he was nowhere to be found. Going back to our apartment we planned to visit more of our classmates after hearing mass Sunday morning. Here we are, Sunday morning, leaving for mass at Notre Dame church. It was not until the offer- tory at mass that wc perceived the celehrant to be no other than Reverend Fernand C. Thibault. After mass we hastened to the sacristy to greet him. He told us that he had become a Maryknoll missionary and had completed 10 years of missionary work in the Orient and was home for a well-earned vacation. He asked us if we knew the pastor of Notre-Dame Church and to our surprise, told us that it was Mgr. Edmond Lcvesque, P.R., who had followed in his brotha-r's footsteps. Father Thibault invited us to break- fast with him and Mgr. Levesque at the rectory. We obliged him and had a very good breakfast, after which we agreed to visit our Alma Mater. The Prevost grninlnar school was now located on thc site of the former Eastern Avenue School. On a spot of Lafayette Park which was known as Prevost Hill now stood a two-story building inside of which was the long-awaited Prevost Gym and Auditorium. The High School itself was a newly remodeled build- ing with the facilities of a cafeteria, a completely enlarged library and a fully equipped workshop and printing room. Glnncing to the left we observed a familiar person arriving. He was no other than Brother Ernest, onr former class moderator. Despite a life of hard work, time had been lenient on his features: he was now principal and success adorned his work. He greeted us in the same manner he used to when we were Seniors at Prevost. He brought us into his private office and called our attention to two clippings, that he had just pasted in his scrapbook. One of them read: Philip Peters resigns position as U. S. Senator to accept Presidential appointment as envoy to the Near East and ambassador to Syria and Lebanon. The other was of Paul J. Peloquin, who had become president of the Anchor Hocking Glass Company and who was now a prominent figure on VVall Street. Brother Ernest turned on the radio when to our surprise we heard that Denis Goulet, the jockey who had ridden Trotting Irene to fame at the Kentucky Derby, was married to a local girl. Bidding farewell to our old friends we paused to look back at Prevost in reminiscence of those playfull years which we now envied with deep appreciation. We now look upon Prevost as n main factor, for our success in life and as a major stepping-stone to future generations. R. D. E. Lcvcsqzw P. Pvicrs P. Pclaquin D. Goulet S Most Peaceful .... He piloted the tellin to two straight victories over West- port and Bristol Aggies. But in spite of his invaluable experience and tireless efforts, hls team had to bow to marked superiority. Co-captain George Bonnafe was the spark plug ln many a rugged contest. Hls unparallclcd spirit and his arduous work are to be congratulated. Fernand Bonnoyer, the other co-captain, was our one-handed shot artist. Ar- mand Routhicr, our human dynamo, never yielded an inch until the final whistle. Phll Lavole, 1n-obalvly the shortest Varsity member ln the Narry League was a constant thorn ln our opponents' side. Hector Dion, u capable plnymaker was the man of the hour ln many a crltlcal situation. Our Jnyvee team, composed chlefiy of Freshmen hoopstars. deserve it speclal tribute for their remarkable achievement. They won ten of their fourteen league games. The out- Smllllllltf player was undoubtedly Rene Bam-llle whose 4-oolnessnntl natural ability were nlghly llrtllsmi by rival coaches- Howover, without the unselflsh contributions of Robert Renaud, Roger Morin, Ronald Duval, Zeke Vnllquette, Mau- rlce Clalrmnnt, lVlllIanx Labrle, Romeo Fortln, and Leonard Levasscur, such an enviable record would not have been compiled. XVlth thc return of all but two of these buys, I-'revost can smile at the future and look for great things in this indoor sport. The hopes for n. perenlal leadership ill sports will come when the gynl and other athletic accommo- dations are part of the school grounds. BASEBALL. Late in March over sixty baseball enthusiasts trotted on the Held to display their baseball capabllltles under the uncanny eye of our enthusiastic, champion coach Nick Olivier. Graduation and the G. I. Bill of Rights brought havoc ln our baseball spud claiming the whole team with the exception of Albert Tremblay. Therefore, the grateful task of rebuilding a team with raw recrults. Few, if any, Narry League teams can boast of a string of twenty straight games and two t-llnlnptonshlps over a. two-year span. When a coach lms tasted tho sweet fruit of victory at the-helm of a school outfit, he could be excused for nurturing st feeling ol dtsconragement when ho suddenly ls faccd with so bleak a project. Fortunately, Nick Ollvler does not belong to this class. His over- bubbllng ontliuslasm, stamina and determination are just as genuine and communicative as hls flrst two years at Plevost. This is a great eredlt to a great coach. The pltehlng'dcpartment, minus Al Pelletier, is reduced to a skeleton. However, three Freshmen fllngers: Rene Thibault, Louis Boulay alld Gerard Gulmond should provide the backbone of our future hnrllln: corps. Armand Routhier is counted upon to handle etliclently our rookie pitchers' slants. .Albert 'Tremblay is the only boy wlth a certain alnouut of experience und the coach le looking to him to carry the burden of pitching Provost to victory. Batting wlll bc the major factor that will decide who will hold down thc other positions. The candidates for the rclnalning berths are as follows: Arlnand Levesque, Raymond Guorette, and Maurice Hamel, pi!L'l'lex's: RI. Dtllllont, G. Plante, R. Frazier, N. Vnllqllette, H. Dloll. H. llervler, YV. Dlbklllsoli and R. Glllllwnd, Infield- ersi P. Lavoie, G. Lebreux, R. Landry, R. Renaud will patrol the outfield. The fans may look forward to see a llllsflilll-T, aggressive and determined group of boys gulng all out to win for their school and their beloved coach. cont-ll is faced with the un Ref.: two preceding pages: 1-Case. 2-Dlman.3-1Yestport.-l-Dlghton. 5-Bristol. 6-Dartmouth. Jean A. Prevost. ?.e 'G:p e0? a l uenTsuu -5 i V i V Y 1 L? pf-vga.-,...:-3..l.u-.1-.,..--.. W- ..,, ,. ..onwe------f--awww-vve-gene'-5-gliM-of-v W-- '-QIAQ . .-,w.......-- T- .. -v-gf .1 Q m,,m',,,J. :- 'a if 'Z nsoTsuu xi Y PEE- 5 Q X - , U v. ss W-fee-fu-Jmlff'-'fx-N1-'f-MZWTEMQ-X 1 ' l V- .
