Anne Malinski got her ring and said, get a load of this? Norma Upright had her picture taken on Stillwater Bridge? Lucille Patten was with Donnie? Sandra Jessup spent a weekend in Brooklyn, New York? David Flynn came to a dance with a girl? Kenneth Neild had his hair washed in a certain Preston Park home? Gerald Neild along with Kenneth Neild took typing I with a room full of girls? Gerald Sampson wore his false teeth around his neck? fdramaj Paul Hunt gave his class ring to a certain freshman girl? Mr. Douglas Phillips was never wrong about anything, always giving the cheerleaders instructions, said he wasn't our advisor, had an argument with a tall coach? The senior class wasn't being different? Arlene Seney Lois Hunt GASS yjropfecy We, the graduating class of Preston High School of the year one X thousand nine hundred fifty-six, have before us a crystal ball. Slowly a mist arisesg gradually it fades away leaving a picture of our futures before us as in a stage performance. In the foreground we see a large white farm house with a big red barn across the road from it. The farm is located in Lake Como, Pennsylvania, where we find David Flynn and his family living. We discover that David raises national championship bulls and has won recognition internationally at the World's Fair for his fine stock. As David's home fades away we see a large office building in the heart of New York City. On the forty-seventh floor, we find a very sophisticated looking secretary who turns out to be Bertha Roney. By the twinkle of the five carat diamond ring on her left hand she will soon be some lucky man's wife. We wonder who will handle the money. Bertha has had two years of experience as class treasurer. Next appears a swanky Fifth Avenue Millinery Shop. The hats are all imported from Paris, France. The owner is none other than Carol Neildl She has been making several trips to Paris to buy hats. While in Paris, Carol fell in love with a charming French designer. They married and are now the proud parents of twin girls, Fifi and Mimi. Our crystal ball then takes us to a ranch house on the outskirts of Houston, Texas. Some cattle are being cared for by the world famous veterinarian Gerald Sampson. After attending Penn State University, he won several scholarships and continued his studies in Europe, where he is also well known. Oh, yes! Gerald teaches Latin at the Houston High School in his spare time. After we leave Texas, our travels through the eyes of the crystal ball take us to a little town in Alabama where we see a lovely white farmhouse. It is the estate of Kathryn Bloomer and her husband George. George and Kathryn own a cotton plantation. George Jr. , little Kathy and the twins John and Jim, are a big help to their parents. Sandra Jessup is now a secretary for the New York Times. She has worked there for the past three years. She has become great friends with the publisher of the newspaper and he has bought her a diamond ring. Sandra expects to be a June bride. Good bye to Sandrag and off to the Metropolitan Opera House. Someone is singing MADAME BUTTERFLY. Why it's our old friend Sylvia Smith! This is where her singing career has led her. Sylvia is married to the president of a big ammunition factory. Off we go to Chicago. In a modern suburban home,cooking supper is Arlene Seney - Travis that is. Arlene is also sterilizing baby bottles. Little Eddie is hungry. Edward has left farming and manages a big department store. Arlene still refuses to have help with the cooking and cleaning. After leaving Chicago we travel to a big farmhouse in Wayne County. Perched on a tractor, we find Lois Hunt. She and her husband and three sons manage their eight hundred acre farm with the help of several hired men, of course. Lois married that certain someone soon after graduation. Our journey continues to a famous Northeastern College where a professor is teaching the students Oriental languages. Why, it's Pro- fessor Paul Hunt! After graduating from Notre Dame, Paul continued his studies in the Orient. All the co-eds are in love with the hand- some Professor Hunt. Next on our list is our perky nurse, Anne Malinski. Anne has com- pleted her training at State Hospital, Scranton, Pennsylvania. She married a famous brain surgeon. They reside in Sydney, Australia. Anne raises kangaroos for amusement. Leaving Anne, we find a famous ballerina dancing with the New York Ballet Company. It turns out to be Betty Realmuto. Betty married another ballet star. At times they are followed on stage by their triplets, who were taught to dance at one year old. The crystal ball then takes us to the world famous Waldorf Matarese on the Riveria. The owners are Barbara Laskowski and her husband. They have become multi-millionaires and are blessed also with little Luigi, Pasquole, Franceska, and Antonio. Now into our view comes the darkest jungle of Africa. A big game hunter appears. He looks familiar. Why he isl It's Kenneth Neild. He is on a rhinoceri safari. He has collected many wild animal trophies, among them elephants, lions, tigers, and alligators. We leave the tropics of Africa and Bellevue Hospital comes into our sights. The tall slender head-nurse is none other than Norma Upright. She has decided to stay single and make a career of nursing. But whom do we see in the men's ward but a certain Thompson fellow, who pretends to have a very sickly condition because this seems the only way he can get to see Norma. Now we journey to Hollywood, California, where we find a very distinguished photographer, Gerald Neild, taking pictures of famous Hollywood movie stars - the successors of Marilyn and lane. He has the biggest photographer studio in Hollywood. I ...I Last but not least comes Lucille Patten S . he and Donnie have settled down in Tallahassee, Florida. They have their own orange grove. Lucille is the proud mother of a curly haired girl. In their spare time, Donnie and Lu ' ' ' ff VJ! lf K cy go skin diving for sunken treasure. This is a poem which was written by me - A description or joke as you can see. I've snitched and copied and composed - Studied and worked on this simple prose And bit by bit I compiled my wit To bring you this composite. B is for Bloomer, our basketball queen. With a certain George she is often seen. This romance I'm sure will always bloom And lucky George will be the groom. Our David Flynn is a handsome boy, His snazzy Pontiac - his pride and joy. He's a good baseball player, too To him we all will hate to say Adieu Now here is Lois - a jovial gal, who is very good at basketball. She is pretty, sweet, a real cool pal, We will hate to see her leave us all. Here is a gentleman who's a farmer. All the girls think that he's a charmer. Paul's favorite sport is shooting a ball, And this is one art he really can call. J is for Jessup, Sandy to us, She is tall, neat, friendly and sweet. She is a helpful girl we all trust, And always wonderful to all of us. Now here's a gal we all adore. Barbara is always on the ball. She is friendly and full of fun galore. We often wonder how her marks stay so tall Anne is the next one on our list, She is often called our best dressed girl. Even though she often puts us in a mist, To us she will always be pretty as a pearl Our class president is next on the list, Carol Neild must never be missed. For there is no other gal who is as great, To all of us she is date bait. N is for Neild, often called Jerry, Once to us he seemed too quiet. Now he is noisy and very merry, And to us all he is really a riot. Romeo, Romeo, where art thou '? We're going to ask you to step up now. what has Kenny been doing these days? Nothing! Just exerting his charming ways. Next in line comes Lucy, our baby, She is young, little, and neat. We'1l have you know she's a perfect lady, when fun is mentioned, she can't be beat. Betty steps into the limelight now, She sways curtsies, and takes her bow. We know her history which is not very dim, There is no more room. Just take good car Bertha our dark haired, bashful, cutie, Is the treasurer of our small class. She is always there, alive, on duty, When she's not called on, alas! Sampson, tall, slim and boney, Is a good friend of us all. V We all think he is a real honey, On the floor with the basketball. The comedian, the actress, the vocalist, lt's Sylvia Smith's name next on our list. This young girl has real talent, And to all of us she's really gallant. Glass Jlglsfory In the Autumn of 1952 we started our freshman year with the usual swelled- heads of freshmen. Early in the year the sophomores initiated us which event brought us to the conclusion that we weren't so big after all. We had nine- teen members in our class. Janet Taylor left for New Jersey in the middle of the year. We were very Droud to have been the class to sell the highest amount of the quota set for each class during the annual sale of magazines. This honor earned us an ice-cream party provided by the seniors. Anne Malinski won the trophy and a five dollar bill for selling the most magazines. Officers for the year were: President, James Stanton, Vice President, Kenneth Neild, Secre- tary, Carol Neild, Treasurer, Norma Upright. Our advisor was Mr. Stephen Katchen. We returned as sophomores on a rainy day in September with seventeen mem- bers. Sandra Jessup did not return to school, she went to Thompson High School. We gained one member, Irene Jackson, from Waymart, which gave us eighteen members. Raymond Springer left us in the fall. Now we had seventeen members. To put some money in the bank and forward our way to Washington we raffled a jewelry set, lantern, and a doll. Barbara Laskowski and Norma Upright were May Queen Attendants. Our officers for the year were: President, Barbara Laskowskig Vice President, Kenneth Neild, Secretary, Anne Malinski, Treasurer, Kathryn Bloomer. Our advisor was Miss Catherine Kuzmack. On a colorful fall day in September of 1954, we came back as proud juniors. Sandra Jessup again joined our group of juniors. Irene Jackson started her junior year at Honesdale High School. Now we were twelve ladies and six gentlemen. On the first day of school, we ordered our class rings. We re- ceived the rings in October. In April we held a Poverty Stricken Dance which earned us a tidy sum. Two weeks later was the big event for us, The Prom under the supervision of Miss Anne Marie Holmes. Norma Up- right and Carol Neild were May Queen attendants. In April the seniors turned the candy and ice cream over to us. O11r officers for the year were: President, Norma Upright, Vice President, Gerald Sampson, Secretary, Carol Neildg Treasurer, Bertha Roney. Our advisor was Miss Ann Marie Holmes. On September 6, 1955 we came back to Preston High School as the big shots. Sylvia Smith was in the hospital and thus missed her first week of life as a Senior. We regret that James Stanton did not return to school. We have had four very successful dances. Our drama 'The Able Miss Cain has brought comments of great praise to our Class. Both the senior girls and senior boys won the volleyball intramurals champion- ships. We have spent many diligent hours to make our yearbook interesting. Mr. Peter Lisowski helped us in any way he could to make our yearbook a success. Our class decided to break tradition this year and go to Washington with Parker Travel Bureau. The senior boys on the basketball team were Kenneth Neild, and Paul Hunt. The senior girls were Kathryn Bloomer, lois Hunt, Sylvia Smith, and Sandra Jessup. The senior girls on the cheerleading squad are Bertha Roney, Captain, Norma Upright, and Lucille Patten. Barbara Laskowski was score keeper and Anne Malinski was time keeper. Miss Anne Marie Holmes is our sponsor. The officers for the year were President, Carol Neildg Vice President, Gerald Samp song Secretary, Kathryn Bloomerg Treasurer, Bertha Roney.
