Mike and Lud Gartner synchronize their watches as they leave the Victory. Phil Gartner leaves a West end doorstep to hit the books. Dick Benson and his Studebaker make their third trip around the Loop. Bob Cook and Tienter catch an escaped convict. Dennis deals the last hand of poker. Delvin starts to say good-night. Most seniors are in bed. Janis sends her man home and tip-toes up the stairs. A. M. Tillman bums up Highway 52 from Rochester. Evelyn crawls in her bedroom window. Del vin says good-night and races a cop home. 4! The 1956 Junior-Senior Prom was held on May 4. The theme was Japanese Sandman and the colors were purple and pink. The setting was dramatized by a Japanese pagoda which dec- orated the stage and two Japanese footbridges led to the dance floor from the entrance. The Juniors and Seniors danced and talked away the hours midst this Oriental Motif. Johnny Roberts and his Orchestra provided the musical background. Sandman The waitresses and waiters, chosen from the Sophomore class, were: Kay Kleimenhagen, Barbara Fairbairn, Judy Roelofs, and Sharon Sik- kink, Lynn Wubbels, Jim Hovelson, Tom Lahmers, and Jerry Nagel. The waitresses wore pink kimonas with purple sashes; the waiters wore yellow jackets. These sophomores served the lunch that had been prepared by the mothers. Class Prophecy It is 2:00 P.M. on July 17, 1972, in Washington, D.C., where Dianne Gluen, the firsi woman President, is seated on the roof of the White House. She is calmly awaiting the arrival of the members of the Pres- ton High School class of 1957, whom she is entertaining at their 15th reunion. The first persons to arrive are two of her cabinet members--Maynard Jones, who is Secretary of Ag- riculture, and Bill Murray, who is Secretary of the Treasury. Incidentally, Bill is a very important guest since he nas borrowed the money for the reunion lunch from the 1972 income tax fund. As we look off in the distance, we see Larry Anderson arriving on his super duper flying carpet. Larry has come all the way from Turkey, where he has been a busy missionary. With him comes his able right-hand man, Jerry Rindels, whw will give a speech entitled, My Fifteen Years in Turkey’s Feathers. I see more of the guests have arrived. Here we find Bob Cook and his lovely family. Bob has recent- ly become famous by producing a radio that may be carried inside a false tooth. Delvin Nelson, owner of the Hormel Plant, is discussing the hog sickness problem with Jane Hovelson, world famous hog veter- inarian. In one comer we find Dave Gartner, the renowned fashion stylist from Paris. Seated next to him is his famous model, Kent Pfremmer, who recently had his picture on the cover of the Bum's Gazette — owned and published by Diane Foss. The mayor of Boomtown, South Dakota, Mr. Dennis Culver, is now opening the program with a speech of welcome. Next on the program is Phil Thorson, who will favor us with his latest recording--”Ba-- beel! . He is accompanied by the New York Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, directed by Trudy Watts. There has been a slight confusion in the audience. It seems that the four sets of Benson twins have just beaten up on the Sikkink’s only child. Now Mr. Sikkink is holding them off with a lead pipe. (My- My) Mr. Benson is the manager of the Sing-Sing Rest Home, and Mr. Sikkink has lately become one of the world’s distinctive acotrs. Mr. D. J. Scanlon, senior class advisor of the class of '57, who is now Prime Minister of Ethiopia, is saying a few words. Bob Prinsen, wealthy owner of seven gambling casinos in Reno, Nevada, will now favor us with a tuba solo. After the program, lunch is served in the garden. First to be served are Prince Tillman and his lovely wife, Princess Margaret, from England. We are all honored by their presence. At the next table we find bachelor Philip A. Gartner, wealthy architect from Oklahoma City, and Wayne Dreier, a successful mortician from Dead Mans Ridge, Kentucky. We also see Wayne Kneeskern, head basketball coach in Pierre, Australia; Jim O'Connor, the nation's leading authority on Shakespeare; and Carroll Vaalemoen, who is kept busy on his 500-acre farm in Ant- arctica, discussing the coming internationally famous wrestling match between Kay Rindels and Evelyn Ristau, who are both well known women wrestlers. This match is to be refereed by Jean Theiss, world re- nowned referee. Over here we see Lorraine Stapelkamp, author of the famous book, How to Lose Weight With Brewer’s Yeast”, discussing the problem of being overweight with Karen Ashton who has gained considerable weight since being chosen Future Homemaker of the Universe. Admiring President Gluen's petunia garden are Mrs. Dick Wendt with her six children, and Mrs. John Palmer with her four sons. Both Mr. Wendt and Mr. Palmer are successful farmers living near Preston. Everyone claps as Kay Berges, Miss America of 1972 and Cleo Gillund, a well known model, enter the garden. There are also a few wolf whistles. As the reunion draws to a close, everyone is gathering for a group picture, which will be taken by the nation's leading photographer, M. Gartner. Assisting him in arranging the people are Janis Meyer, chief operator of the New York telephone exchange, and Joyce Prinsen, wife of Nasaai, Jr., and Carol Gartner, who has been Mr. Mrs. Elvis Presley's cook for some time. Finally Dana Lahmers, soloist for eight consecutive years at Carnegie Hall, plays the Preston School Song and everyone joins in the singing. After which the guests begin to leave--each wondering what the future will bring. 44 Compliments of •Thauwald Furniture Funeral Service Preston •Fairbaim's Standard Service Preston •Philip B.
