Many of our players have little experience. One of our weaknesses is the lack of good depth in essential areas such as offensive line and defense secondary. Overall, our team has confidence and positive attitudes and are also gaining confidence in one another.” commented Coach Bunch. I feel the function of the J.V. coaches is to prepare athletes for the varsity team. Some kids have to start from scratch, while others come with experience and ability. They all must improve in the fundamental skills, fcven though we don’t win every game, individual improvement and team improvement is what we consider necessary to be successful.” added Coach Bunch. Coach Steward replied. Everyone has shown improvement overall. These young men have shown progress fundamentally and I feel they will be ready to advance to the varsity level for the next step in the learning process. These men have demonstrated guts, desire, a strong will to win and attain success in football. This is a fine group of young men. I expect the majority if not all will achieve some success in football, and a lot of success in reaching their goals in life.” Opposite page top left: Coaches Bunch and Steward talk over plans for game strategy. It gives them a foundation.” replies Coach Gahn. This year the team has had a tough schedule. The strong areas in the team are the offensive and defensive line. The team lacks in depth and not having enough experience. The team makes a lot of mental mistakes and gets too emotional, but we have a good spirit and a lot of enthusiasm. The playing performance is important because players win games not plays.” commented Coach Gahn. Team members set their own goals and the group on the whole has goals. We need more participation in football and more who stick with it. We perform as a unit.” said Coach White. It is an accomplishment to be a good humble winner and to learn something from a loss.” also added Coach White. Football is a great learning experience for people. You learn how to work hard and there are a lot of hardtlines but life is full of hard times.” replies Coach Miller. Being a football player is having a lot of dedication. Left to right: Guadalupe Carbajal; Mexico, Thorlief Johanassen; Norway, and Janette Scott; Australia. 94 This page shows the enthusiasm that these three people have. It takes a special person to come to another country, another culture, learn another language and absorb it all in 6-Q months. These people have done that and enjoy it immensely. As you can see in the pictures each student has his her own interests. Guadalupe, more commonly known as Lupe , has been helping Miss Stringfield in her Spanish class and brightens Mr. Lunt’s 5th hour class. Thorlief enjoys a new hobby, working on cars. Another favorite activity is skiing, which he has found difficult to do here in Prescott. Janette is involved with something new. hiking. She enjoys it very much along with helping Coach Gahn with the newly developed Spirit Club. 95 P.H.S. Students enjoying what they do . . . One good thing about P.H.S. is that there is a variety of activities for everyone. Who else would be a better exam- ple than the students themselves. 96 People have different tastes, one can tell just by looking at these pages. The best part about it is everyone is enjoying life! From playing, to singing music, from one hug to another, from promoting Badger spirit to skating, from roundball to wrestling, from cheering in the crowds to concentration on the floor. 97 Student council works hard to better Prescott High!
