N It-A Dedication 77-78 Mr. Jay Jones If a kid has guts, courage, determination and fortitude there isn't anything that can stop him from making a success. So says Mr. jay L. jones, teacher of Civics, Arizona History and Government, English, Free Enterprise, and Math. He believes it and he proved it for the last 18 years he's spent helping Prescott High School students. Mr. jones went to college for four years before serving in the Navy and the Air Force as a counter intelligence agent. He also volunteered to serve in World War II. His majors were in English and P.E. and he was the first person to obtain a masters degree in special education at N.A.U. in 1964. Lots of people know about Mr. Jones' several achievements but not enough know of the many services he has given PHS students. Many students feel they know him even though they haven't ever had him as a teacher because he's friendly and goes out of his way to talk to students and make them feel liked and wanted. During his career, Mr. Jones got over 1,500 jobs for teenagers. Over a period of several years he gave hundreds of dollars in lunch money to students who couldn't afford it. For these reasons and many more we are proud to dedicate this year's Hassayamper to Mr. jay L. jones. In his first couple years of teaching, a student made him a poster which he has kept in his classroom ever since. I shall pass through this world but once. If therefore there be any kindness I can show or anything I can do let me do it now for I shall not pass this way again. We're sorry you had to leave us Mr. Jones. We'll miss you. Thank you for everything. J 1 'sw was bv The Prescott Badger varsity football team this year was plagued by a number of losses, but even so, the team has performed well. Many injuries before and during the year caused the Badgers problems. At this deadline to date, the winfloss record was 2 lk, 8. Even as the team did not have much of the thrill of victory, their spirit was always high, looking forward to the next game. The Hassayamper and student body of PHS congratulate the Badger Varsity Football Team of '78, The j.V. football team came through with a good record of 7 wins, 0 losses, and 1 tie. This scrappy team caused many heads to turn in this season. They showed great promise for the varsity teams to come. A good-luck and thanks to all PHS football players of '78 and special thanks to their coaches. 130 Sports S First row, left to right: S. Wilhite, D. Bennett, T. Nelson T. Toci, A. Borjon, D.
